Life is an Adventure!

(our page was last updated March 23, 2001 )

Who Are We?

We have been here 9 months now! Nothing like being away from your home country to make you patriotic!

BUT..... I hear there are feet of snow on roofs up in the great white north. hehehe 32C here peoples.

Our family has 6 members: Me (Debbi) the one with the big mouth. Mom of 4 kids and computer geek wannabe. Steve, the reason we are here, Dad of the 4 kids and ex workaholic. Jericho (Jeri) the 9 year old girl who we have named Miss Know it All (man does she hate that nickname) who is never home and leads the busiest life of us all, Lukas(Luke) a 8 year old boy who cannot remember why he did not want to move here, Zachary (Zack) the most smiley kid in the world, he who makes friends by looking at people, who is also 8 years old and a fraternal twin. Jacob aka Jake who is 4 and can make a new friend in any country( and also thinks he can leave the house whenever he wants to).

Trinidad

We are on a small island off the coast of Venezuela. It is called the West Indies, but most refer to it as the Caribbean. It is roughly the same size as Prince Edward Island, where I was born and raised. It used to be a British colony, so there is actually quite a bit of familiar items in the grocery store to us. hehehe ex. Cavendish Farms, McCain and Cadbury products.

It is HOT here all the time, the climate rarely changes, 30 or 32C. I am finally used to the heat after 9 months, and on a recent visit got cold in Barbados. Steve has been here for almost 2 years and he loves the heat, says his toe does not freeze like it did in Canada. He kinda got it smashed in a pump jack when he was small. OUCH !!!!

Carnival is a big thing here. PARTY, PARTY, PARTY!!!! I have been told that as soon as it is over for one year within a month they are planning costumes etc. for the next year. The costumes are fabulous. I have never seen anything like it. The atmosphere here during carnival is like one big party and everyone is invited.

The beaches here are pretty awesome. Good beaches almost totally surround the island. All are different in their own way. Some have lots of coral in the sand, some are vacant of people and natural with a coconut grove nearby, some have huge waves for surfing and others are pretty mild for small kids. A must see if you come here.
