WILLIAM JOHN WILSON

William John (or in later records, John William) WILSON was born in Baltimore, U.S.A. c.1808 – 1816. How and when he came to Australia is not known. However, in 1840, he married MARY ANN GOOD(E) in Melbourne, Victoria. His wife came to Australia from Cork, Ireland , where she was born c. 1823-25, on the “JOHN BULL”, arriving in Port Phillip on 21 January, 1840.

His occupation was a Carpenter and hers was listed on shipping records as Nurse Maid.

There were 11 (eleven) but possibly 13 (thirteen) children to the marriage. They were :

1. Charlotte – born 1842 in Victoria and married John DOYLE.
2. Henry Thomas – born 1843 in New South Wales and married Mary CARNEY/KEARNEY.
3. Amelia “Emma” – born 1845 in N.S.W. and married Thomas BARRETT.
4. Thomas – born 1846 in N.S.W.
5. Jane – born 1847 in N.S.W. and married Matthew EVANS.
6. William T. – born 1848 in N.S.W.
7. John W. – born 1849 in N.S.W.
8. Anne -- born 1852 in N.S.W.
9. Charles Edward – born 1854 in N.S.W.
10. James Arthur -- born 1856 in N.S.W.
11. Mary -- born 1858 in N.S.W.

The other possible children were:

1. Andrew -- born 1859 in N.S.W.
2. George -- born 1861 in N.S.W.

William John (or, John William ) WILSON died in 1884 near Parkes, N.S.W. No record is found for his wife.
