OUR SYMONS FAMILY

Thomas Symons was born in 1826 in Tintagel, Cornwall to William Symons and Ann Rowe. In 1849 he married Ann B. Hawken, daughter of John Hawken and Sarah Bonner in Cornwall.

In 1857 they sailed for Sydney with their 3 children.... John aged 7, Sarah aged 4 and William aged 2 years. However, John drowned on the voyage.

They had 10 more children after they arrived. These were:

• Esther
• Joseph
• James
• Joseph Wesley
• David
• Henry
• Ruth
• a child who died in infancy.

Thomas died in 1891 and his wife in 1913. Both are buried at Rookwood in Sydney.
