OUR MAXWELL FAMILY

Thomas Maxwell was born c.1793 in Roscommon, Ireland. His father's name MIGHT be Samuel. In 1823 he was sentenced to 7 years in Australia, arriving in Sydney on the "ISABELLA 1" on 16 Dec. 1823.

In 1839 he married Elizabeth Osborn(e) in Burragorang, New South Wales. Elizabeth, too, was a convict from Monaghan, Ireland whose parents were Samuel Osborn and Catherine.....? Elizabeth arrived in Sydney in 1831.

Thomas and Elizabeth lived in Burragorang Valley all their lives. Thomas died there in 1843 (accidentally drowned) and Elizabeth died there in 1882.

There were 7 children of the marriage. The youngest, Thomas, married Mary Jane Sheehy from Burragorang and they moved to the Eugowra area of N.S.W. about 1875. Many descendants still live in this area.
