Square's Final Fantasy Six (US Three) is the story of a young woman seeking her heritage, an evil Emperor who wants to rule all in this world, his second who has a god complex, and the rebels who want to stop them. Terra Branford is a woman with the unheard of gift of magic, but no knowledge of her past. She aides the Returners, a mismatched group of local and far-flung rebels who need her aide to stop the Empire. Ghestal rules his people unjustly aided ny armies lead by a gentle noble and a madman. Later on, however, he joins the party for good if you save him in time. Mog has a certain charm the Returners will find useful as well as knowing another strong ally. |

Strago Magus is one of the few living practitioners of blue magic. Living in the magical town of Thamasa, it is his permission that grants you the right to speak freely to the other citizens. After saving his granddaughter, Relm, Strago takes Terra to place where she may find her answers. What they learn causes Strago to join the battle against the Empire. |

Relm Arrowny, granddaughter of Strago, is a master painter. In fact her paintings come to life upon occasion. After saving the Returners from the octopus with an attitude, Strago grants her permission to aide them. Questions of which Returner she will paint next, keep the team in high spirits but her attachment to Interceptor raises some unusual questions. |

A yeti from the snowy mountains of Narshe, Umaro has a deep friendship with Mog. Having a simple brain in a large body can make him something of a lose cannon in battle that, at times, can little be afforded. However there are times when his incredible size and strength are just what the teams needs. |

Gogo is a creature of which nothing in known. Found in the belly of the Zone Eater, it only joins the Returners when it sees they are honorable. Gogo is a creature of mimic, following silently in the footsteps of those who go before it. Gogo attacks the enemy with the determination it mirrors off it's teammates. |
Kefka is Emperor Ghestal's right hand man, er, clown. Ruthless and cunning he is the true power behind the Emperor. Starting with the manipulation of Terra, his reign of terror includes such acts as genetic engineering to the destruction of the very world in balance. With all his evil can the Returners stop his before he destroys what's left of the world?The figure head of the Empire, Ghestal is a man of considerable power. Ruling with his fists, he seeks to keep his people subservient and to conquer new peoples. Ghestal seeks magic users, such as Terra, to increase his control over the world. He is ultimately betrayed by the Clown, but there is no turning back the path he has started down.
