Water

Disclaimer: They aren't mine, but I wouldn't mind one. They aren't gay, but we can still hope the best for them. This isn't true, but we want to think it is!

Lance loved the water or more particularly large bodies of. They were the best kind for jetting around on. It had taken two weeks of pleading to get JC to join him and Joey for the weekend on the beachfront. He hadn’t planned on Joey, but he invited himself when Lance asked JC. It was supposed to be their weekend. Lance had plotted for weeks on how to tell JC how he felt.

It had started like any thing else, in friendship. Five years ago he wouldn’t have predicted that it would be JC who he’d fall for. Lance guessed it would have been Justin or maybe even Joey. JC had befriended him from the start. It turned out to be a strong friendship and both would turn to each other when the road or fans got tough to handle. Lance wasn’t entirely sure when he had moved from a friend to a crush. In Lance’s mind there was no way in hell that JC would ever be interested in him. JC was the kind of guy who liked girls. On occasion he would bring a girl back to the hotel, but no where near as often as Joey or Justin. It wasn’t until Chris mentioned that he had once seen JC bring a guy back to the hotel, on one of those nights Lance didn’t go out, that Lance thought there might be a chance for them.

That had been a month ago. Touring was hectic and he wasn’t about to try and start something with JC if they couldn’t get a good start. He had two days before they left, two days to say good-bye to Joey without hurting his friend’s feelings. Chris knew about the crush, but Lance didn’t know if he could trust Joey’s reaction; and, if he could, would Joey keep his big mouth shut?

The answer to his prayer came from his newest personal savior, Chris. Joey had a weak spot for girls, everybody knew that. Chris simply manipulated him into heading to Las Vegas for the weekend with him. Gambling and women, Dani wasn’t happy but Joey was. It was back to Lance and JC again.

It was a perfectly clear day to travel and when they arrived it was the water was just as wonderful. Lance planned to tell JC after dinner, if things worked out they would have the rest of their ‘vacation’ to spend time together, if not they would have time to adjust to the changing dynamic that was their friendship before they got back to the rest of the group. A perfect day, Lance taught JC a few tricks with his jet ski and the two enjoyed laying in the sun on the private beach without fear of screaming, crying, and fainting fans falling all over them.

Lance excused himself early to get dinner ready. He was going to cook it all himself and serve it to JC on the beach. It was just before sunset when Lance woke JC from his nap and pointed to the house, shower then dinner. He set out a blanket and lit candles to illuminate the meal. JC came out of the house just in time to see the sunset. The meal was lavish, Lance had prepared it with love and it was with relish that JC ate it. They sat together in the growing dark when Lance decided it was now or never.

“Josh, I need to tell you something.” JC turned to look at Lance in the moonlight. “I think I’m in love with you.” There he had said it, now all he had to do was look at JC and see what his reaction would be. Before he got his courage up JC quickly stood up and looked down at Lance his face was covered in shock.

“Lance we can’t.” With that said Lance was left alone on the beach as JC walked towards the pier down the beach. Lance loved water, it was like a second skin. The tears on his face were water too, but they were nothing but pain.
