Index.html is the name of the opening page when a visitor first enters a web site. Because this is a paragraph the word index is capitalized. However the file name and extentions are typed using lower case. For this example, index.html has a descriptin of the index and a description of the subsequent pages in this site. Windows servers also accept index.htm fro mWindoes users.
By default displaying index.html brings web surfers to what is known as the home page. It is where the creator of the page wants you to go when you first open their site. Is like opening the front door of a house and from there you can go the the different room. In this case the rooms are different pages within the same site.
The next section on the table of contents is entitle Jupiter . When you click on Jupiter on the table of contents it will bring you to that page. As you may have notice, we are using drawings instead of pictures for this index page. The main reason for that is the fact that these drawings are very small in size and therefore allow a much faster download that a regular picture.
The next section in the table of contents is entitled Supersonic Flights. When we click on it the browser will take us to the page that contains information about flying at or above the speed of sound.
Here we have added a little images that is the drawing of an airplane. We are also trying to align the image at the center. It may display differently depending on the size of your monitor. The goal is to display the page on an average size monitor in a way that the text is wrapped around the the image, and the image is located at the center of the page.
