Zechariah 13)

1 In that day (the future day, when this prophecy shall come to pass) there shall be a fountain set opened (permanently. Could it be from Jacob's pillar, the Stone of Scone?) to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for [the expiation of] sin and for uncleanness. (See Ezek. 47.)

13:2-5. EVIL REMOVED.
Y1 A1 2-. Idols cut off.
    A2 -2-5. False prophets removed.

2 And it shall come to pass in that day (the Lord's Day), says the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land (ref. Ex. 23:13), and they shall no more be remembered:

and also I will cause the [false] prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land. (Thank God!)
3 And it shall come to pass (in that yet future day), that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say to him, 'You shall not live; for you speak lies in the name of the LORD:' (a false prophet is a dangerous thing in a community) and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesied. (Ref. Deut. 13:6-11; 18:20.)
4 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision (not God's), when he has prophesied; neither shall they put a rough garment (a hairy garment like Elijah wore) to deceive:
5 But he shall say, 'I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.' (He's lying.)

6 And one shall say to Him (Messiah is here spoken of, in contrast with these prophets. Spoken in the yet future time, and referring to His past rejection, and to the time when His wounds had been received. They had already looked upon Him [12:10], and now inquire of for explanation), 'What are these wounds within (i.e. in the palms) your hands?' Then he shall answer, 'Those with which I was wounded in the house of My friends.' (Typical of His own who received Him not [Mark 3:21; cp. vv.31,34,35. John 1:11]. See 12:10. Beware of friends that are not true. See Ps. 41:9.)
7 Awake (this verse stands wholly unconnected, unless we regard it as looking back from a yet future glory to the time of His rejection, when Isa. 53:5-10 was fulfilled. Cp. 11:16,17), O sword, against My Shepherd,

and against the Mighty One (fake shepherd Satan) that is My fellow, says the LORD of hosts: smite the Shepherd,

and the sheep shall be scattered: (quoted of Messiah by Messiah, in Matt. 26:31. Mark 14:27) and I will turn My hand upon the feeble of the flock. (I.e. for care and protection. Cp. John 18:8.)
8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, says the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. (2/3 fail, spiritually dead. 1/3 make it. Just before the millennium.)
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on My name, and I will answer them: I will say, 'It is My people:' (ref. Lev. 26:12) and they shall say, 'The LORD is my God.'
