(A Psalm for the sons of Korah.)

Psalm 85)

1 Lord, You have been favorable to Your land:
  You have returned the fortunes (As in 126:1. Job 42;10. No reference to the Babylonian captivity, but to the restoration of David's fortune after Absalom's revolt.) of Jacob. (Refers to the natural seed and to the earthly and material standpoint. See Gen. 32:28; 43:6; 45:26,28.)
2 You have forgiven the perverseness of Your People,
  You have concealed all their sin. Selah. (Connecting forgiveness with [as being the basis of] millennial blessing.)
3 You have taken away all Your wrath:
  You have turned Yourself from the fierceness of Your anger.

4 Turn us, O God of our salvation,
  And cause Your anger toward us to cease.

5 Will You be angry with us for ever?
  Will You draw out Your anger to all generations?
6 Will You not revive us again:
  That Your people may rejoice in Your?

7 Show us Your grace (or loving-kindness), O LORD,
  And grant us Your salvation.

8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak:
  For He will speak peace (referring to the war with Absalom) to His people, and to His graced ones:
  But let them not turn (i.e. rebel, as in Absalom's case) again to folly.

9 Surely His salvation is near to them that reverence Him;
  That glory may dwell in our land. (I.e. the glory of Yahaveh's presence in the Shekinah, in the Tabernacle)
10 Mercy and truth are met together;
  Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 Truth shall spring out of the earth;
  And righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 Yes, the LORD shall give that which is good;
  And our land shall yield her increase.
13 Righteousness shall go before Him;
  And shall set us in the way of His steps.
