1 Now the Spirit speaks in express words, that in the latter seasons some shall apostatize from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and teachings of demons; (What causes apostasy? Seducing spirits and doctrines of demons cause apostasy. Again, we are warned of Satan's tricks. Remember, Satan is supernatural. He will be able to perform miracles in the sight of men. Be mentally prepared for his tricks.)
2 By the hypocrisy of liars; having been seared with a hot iron as to their own conscience;
3 Forbidding to marry (this has been taken as indicating the Church of Rome, but that church only enjoins the celibacy of priests and monks and nuns. Spiritism, or the teaching of demons, enjoins being united only to the "spiritual affinity" and has wrecked many homes), and commanding to abstain from foods (some foods God declared unclean and those we are not to eat. Spiritism teaching is that animal food is unfavorable to the development of mediumistic power. The permission of Gen. 9:3. is significant, coming immediately after the outbreak of Gen. 6:1-4), which God created for reception (unclean animals are not to be received as stated in God's health laws) with thanksgiving by believers and have know the truth. (Seducing spirits will lie to you and have absolutely no feeling about what they are doing. Beware of the seducing spirits in these end times.)
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, being received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

6 If you put the brethren in remembrance of these things, you shalt be a good minister of Christ Jesus,
nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, to which you have attained. (Lit. followed up.)
7 But refuse the profane (referring to 1:4) and old wives' fables,
and exercise yourself rather to godliness.
8 For bodily exercise profits to a little matter:
but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying worthy of all acceptation.
10 For this we both labor and are reviled, because we have hoped in the living God (see Acts 14:15), who is the Savior of all men (when Adam and Eve incurred the penalty of immediate judicial death, had God not interposed, dealing with the culprits, with the promise of the Redeemer, and so suspended the execution of the sentence denounced), specially of the believing.
11 These things command and teach.
12 Let no man despise your youth (see Acts 24:6); but become you an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, take heed to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. (See acts 22:5)
15 Meditate upon these things; give yourself wholly to them (be occupied in them); in order that your profiting may be manifest to all.
16 Take heed to yourself, and to the doctrine; continue in them: for doing this you shall save both yourself, and them that hear you.
