HON. DON POLYE, MP

Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation

Don Polye was born on 1 February 1967 in Enga Province. He completed primary and secondary education in Enga and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Technology in 1990. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management.

After graduation, Mr Polye was employed as Civic Engineer in the Western Highlands Province from 1991 to 1993, then as resident engineer and project manager in various provinces from 1994 to 1995.

From 1995 to 1996, Mr Polye worked as general manager of Curtain Brothers/Starwest in Ok Tedi Mines, then as provincial works manager in Chimbu from 1996 to 1998, and later as a consultant on various projects between 1998 and 2002.

He was elected to the 7th National Parliament after he won the seat of Kandep Open in the 2002 general elections.

Dr Polye became Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation on 13 August 2002 following the formation of the Somare-Marat government.
