Introduction We have to know the causes of violence against women inorder to come up with the necessary precautionary measures. Research should try to determine the causes. Most of the current Indian literature focuses primarily on the linkages between the socialization of women into subordinate positions, male patriarchy, and domestic violence. However, these explanations do not provide an understanding of how violence seeps into certain relationships or why husbands abuse their wives. As determinants of violence, proximate factors like economic stress, alcohol consumption, and allocation of time, need to be explored empirically and theoretically. Women are always mistreated by the men in the family. This often happens in Asia and Africa. This is very rare in the U.S. and Canada because of the strict laws that are present. In Asia, there are instances of women burnt alive and even made to starve. This diminishes their courage to stand up against these crimes. They know that if they stand up to the men, their state will be even worse than an animal with no shelter and food. There are several instances of even stoning in these parts of hte world. Women are stoned to death if they get preganant without being married. These cases are very sad and we must do something to help the women in these parts of the world.
