The UHS Symphonic Band is a musical group designed to develop a student's fundamental skills. Students in this group are required to read music at advanced grade levels of "II to IV+". The daily practice schedule includes individual and ensemble drills on technique, tone, balance, blend and other elements of group cooperation toward a combined performance. All students are encouraged to "try out" for Conference and District Band and take a solo or ensemble to district competition.
The UHS Symphonic Band has a very full performance schedule betginning at the end of Marching Season and continuing to the end of the school year. They perform at the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and State Festival.
