Aries, as the first and fieriest sign of the Zodiac, prefers to set the trends, not follow them. If you're an Aries, depending on your generation, you were probably the first to iron your hair straight or wear glitter on your cheeks or even get that crazy Brazilian bikini wax. You like perfumes with florid, heady undertones, and you should call attention to your piercing eyes with bold shadow choices and well-groomed brows.

Though you'll try anything once -- bold shades on your eyes, ultra-short pixie hair cuts or the latest skin-hydrating therapy on the market -- the one thing in your life you're most loyal to is your sleek, sexy tube of red lipstick. You probably have a dozen varieties of red, but they're all vibrant and dangerous, never coy or subtle.

As a Cardinal Fire Sign, you like to get things started, but you're not so keen on finishing. This short attention span holds true for you when it comes to your beauty routine. You buy every new product that comes out, then quickly grow bored of it. Last season's discarded colors and half-used lotions pile up beneath your sink and clutter up your vanity.

Although the lotions and potions you love certainly help you shine, your true beauty comes from your spontaneity and willingness to experiment. You glow with a radiant and confident energy that is its own, natural blush.

Do you want an Aries on your team? You bet. Those born under this Sign are competitive and love the game, whether it's business or life. They hate to lose, which means they'll probably win. And when the "contest" is in full swing, the only speed they know is full steam ahead -- think battering Ram, if you will, and clear out the lanes!

Aries like being the leader and aren't as comfortable in a subordinate role. This isn't usually a problem, since -- thanks to their cocksure belief in themselves -- they like to start projects and blaze the trail for colleagues. True to a Fire Sign, Aries can be combustible at times. At least they're always ready to rumble! Even if they aren't always diplomatic, Aries are considerate of their colleagues and display great energy and courage in the field of battle -- umm, make that the workplace. As long as Rams can stay within themselves, they are likely to be successful.

One thing the Ram craves is adventure. Preachy staff meetings are a snore, since Aries would much rather be out in the field closing a key client. New challenges need to come at a fast and furious pace for those born under this sign or else it's "NEXT!" as in next job. A safety net for the hard-charging Ram? Not! Retirement is for everyone else -- the Ram will stay in the game forever, changing the rules along the way so as to keep it interesting (but still legit).

The Aries office is likely to be spare, with only a few token trophies and emblems of success as reminders of past victories. Rams will likely cruise the streets in the flashiest sports car going (leased, of course), and they would trade in a three-martini lunch for a few beers and a game of liar's dice.

Aries is well-suited to become a firefighter, surgeon, mechanic, dentist (watch that drill!), professional athlete and, most of all, entrepreneurs.

Y

The Ram wants to be first in everything. This means you probably know, up to the minute, all about the current trends in fashion. One step ahead of the game, you're a trendsetter. Not afraid to try new things, as long as they appeal to your sense of fun and adventure, you'll wear the most daring of styles. As soon as you see a new item on the rack, you know it'll be the latest trend, and you're not afraid to spend your hard-earned cash to be the first to have 'the look.' In the eighties, you might have been the first to wear shoulder pads (and the first to rip them out toward the end of the decade), and in the nineties you were first in line for that eyebrow piercing. More conservative Aries turned on the television in the mid-nineties and went right out to get their 'Friends' haircut.

True to its fiery nature, the Ram prefers black and red clothing. Not one to go for the tailored look, your closet resembles Noah's Ark, full of all shapes, sizes, colors and fabrics. Rest assured, though, it all looks really good once it goes on your body. You know that flowers are out and solids are in. As far as makeup goes, dramatic eyes do you best, with bright red lipstick to match your fiery hair. Your Sign rules the head, so your best accessory is a hat and sparkling diamonds to adorn your neck and fingers.

Aries is a fiery energy, fearless and brazen, forthright and honest. Those born under its influence are positive, energetic people with a true zest for life. However, the old saying "Look before you leap" could be Aries's mantra, and "honest to a fault" can definitely describe the Ram! If there were one thing Aries would most benefit from mastering, it would be patience. Aries is the most impatient Sign of the Zodiac and this tends to cause trouble on scales large and small.

Most people born under Aries's influence experience everything in a heady, impassioned way; they want what they want right now and they can't stand to wait! Certain things in life require patience and finesse, however. From affairs of the heart to education to cooking, certain endeavors call for a slow and steady approach. As it reflects theCardinal Quality, Aries has lots of energy to start something new, but little of the dedication required to carry things through to the end, especially if something starts to become boring or tedious. This quality may cost Aries a great deal; especially in making major decisions (like "Should I drop out of med school?" or "Should I dump my steady sweetheart and marry the person I met last night at the Hula Club?"), Aries would do well to learn to slow down and sleep on it. Stop and think, "What will I lose if I drop this now, just because I'm bored? And what will I gain if I stay and follow it through to completion?"

Aries's impetuous nature partially stems from the "me first" way in which Aries tends to view the world. As it is the first Sign of the Zodiac, Aries wants to be first -- and best -- in everything. This can result in a truly competitive nature. In team sports or on the job front, Aries may not be the best team player; after all, being overly competitive can sometimes be summed up in two words -- sore loser. And we're all bound to lose sometimes, aren't we? It's important for those born under the Aries influence to learn to be a gracious loser, in the odd moment of their defeat (since Aries doesn't let defeat happen often!). Learn to step aside from time to time and allow other people their time in the spotlight; your time will surely return quickly, since Aries is a born star!

Stepping aside for someone else to enjoy center stage is a difficult thing for a true Aries to do. Many relationship problems for an Aries stem from selfishness and insensitivity; in a romantic relationship or a friendship or with family, Aries tends to forget the other person also has feelings, wants and needs. The joy of giving pleasure and satisfaction to another person can be even greater than the joy of receiving it; if Aries learns this lesson, it will open up the boundaries of love and sexual satisfaction to the joys of generosity.

Aries can look to other Signs of the Zodiac to learn its Karmic lessons. Cancer possesses the nurturing impulse that Aries may lack; those born under Aries's influence can look to their Cancer friends to learn the value of sensitivity and emotional connection with loved ones. They can look to their Libra friends to learn the benefits of team efforts and partnerships, since Libra is all about working together. From Capricorn Aries can learn the about hard work and dedication, about pushing through something even when it has become boring and tedious.

R

Aries is always on the go. With energy to burn, the trick is to keep on moving. Like all Fire Signs, the Ram is powerfully animated and courageous. As an Aries, you probably like things to be done fast, and you always want to be first. Second place just isn't good enough. You may like a challenge, but only if you're going to win. It may be hard to hold your attention, so anything routine is out. As far as working out, going to the gym every day and running laps is not for you. High impact aerobics and Tae-Bo, however, may be right up your alley. Any new fads or action-packed sports like auto racing and roller derbies are good choices. Be careful, though -- Aries rules the head and are prone to head injuries. Remember always to wear a helmet!

Always on the go and pushing yourself to the limit -- that's you, right Aries? You probably don't need a diet, you need a total body cleanser! That's why Juice Fasts might be just the thing for you. Get the skinny here.

If you're an Aries, you're likely to be the most energetic kid on the block! Aries is a Fire Sign, which means you get excited easily and you're always ready to run around doing anything fun. You get bored easily, too, and you're constantly fidgeting. At the dinner table or in the car, your Mom and Dad are constantly telling you to settle down! Aries is represented by the Ram, an animal with tons of energy and spirit -- and a bit of fight in them, too. Do you get mad fast and then get over it and move on just as quickly? Yep, you're a true Aries!

I

As fire can be a fleeting thing, so can be the friendship of a Ram. If you want to call an Aries up for a night on the town, you'll have an exciting companion for the evening -- but don't try to make plans for next week. This Sign needs variety in their friendships. If one group of people can't keep up with their constantly changing interests, they'll move on to new friends. Not that they ever lack for companionship: The Ram is well liked for their edge, so making new friends is never a big problem. Friends are nice, but not exactly necessary for independent Aries, who doesn't need a big group to have fun. When they are in one, though, their competitive nature is liable to get the better of them. Don't try to borrow even a cup of sugar from this one. Ruled by the First House of Self, selfishness can sometimes take the upper hand when it's a choice between people and possessions. On the other hand, the Ram can be very warm toward their friends. As long as Aries feels that they are the number one friend in your life, you can count on having an exciting, albeit brief, whirlwind of fun.

Does the Ram seek fame and fortune? Definitely the former, not the latter. While Arians could hit it big and make a bundle (many are entrepreneurs), it's more than likely that any fortune attained will have been as a result of their incredible will to succeed, not a desire to get rich.

Arians are daring and bold, the go-getters of the Zodiac. They like to run the show -- and they like to win! This quality might get them in trouble every now and again where money is concerned, but invariably, they'll wriggle out of it. It's action and adventure that the Ram craves, whatever the cost. With the world as their oyster, Arians will purr like a cat. Bottom line: the Rambo of the boardroom has arrived!

The Ram doesn't spend much time thinking about getting rich, since it's the journey that matters, not the end result. Moving their agenda forward is top priority, even if the agenda isn't fiscally sound -- hey, it's THEIR agenda! Oftentimes, money to Arians is nothing more than the "currency" which will enable them to get what they want. Are those born under this Sign security conscious? Rarely, since that would be no fun. Don't expect a nest egg from an Arian, someone who would much rather have a job that paid a fair day's wage and not much more so long as it came with freedom and flexibility.

Even so, the Ram loves to spend and is the dream of marketers. "Such a deal!" they'll exclaim. "I'll take ten." This kind of behavior could wreak havoc on the checkbook, and to make matters worse, Arians are loathe to balance accounts! Arians would be well-served to save for a rainy day, but they probably won't.

Should you loan the Ram money? Not if you expect to be repaid promptly. The flip side of this, however, is that if Arians have a couple of bucks on hand, they'd be more than happy to lend them to you.

A

Aries is the first Sign of the Zodiac, and that's pretty much how those born under this Sign see themselves: first. Aries are the leaders of the pack, first in line to get things going. Whether or not everything gets done is another question altogether, for an Aries prefers to initiate rather than to complete. Do you have a project needing a kick-start? Call an Aries, by all means. The leadership displayed by Aries is most impressive, so don't be surprised if they can rally the troops against seemingly insurmountable odds -- they have that kind of personal magnetism. An Aries won't shy away from new ground, either. Those born under this Sign are often called the pioneers of the Zodiac, and it's their fearless trek into the unknown that often wins the day. Aries is a bundle of energy and dynamism, kind of like a Pied Piper, leading people along with its charm and charisma. The dawning of a new day -- and all of its possibilities -- is pure bliss to an Aries.

The symbol of Aries is the Ram, and that's both good and bad news. Impulsive Aries might be tempted to ram their ideas down everyone's throats without even bothering to ask if they want to know. It's these times when you may wish Aries's Sign's symbol were a more subdued creature, more lamb than ram perhaps. You're not likely to convince the Ram to soften up; these folks are blunt and to the point. Along with those qualities comes the sheer force of the Aries nature, a force that can actually accomplish a great deal. Much of Aries's drive to compete and to win comes from its Cardinal Quality. Cardinal Signs love to get things going, and Aries exemplifies this even better than Cancer, Libra or Capricorn.

The sign of the Ram is graced by the element of Fire, and if you were to use one word to describe Aries, it could easily be heat. People born under this sign have a passion and red-hot energy, which often proves irresistible. It's certainly never boring! Aries likes to initiate relationships, and the role of seducer comes to them easily. This sizzling romance dance will only work on those strong enough to stay in the game, because Aries wants a partner who can go toe-to-toe with them, whether it's over lunch or under the covers. Aries likes to get its way and often pits the wishes of self against what is best for the partnership, which can lead to conflict. These battles, though, are often foreplay, which can result in some sexy fireworks of their own. The Ram is possessed of a great physicality, a sense of adventure, is wildly flirtatious and loves to play.

L

As a Ram, you are used to catching on quickly, and once you get the hang of computers, you are likely to be wired in more ways than one. You could begin to close the technology gap faster than you first imagined possible. As an Aries, you tend to be the pioneer of any pack. Your willingness to delve into uncharted territory opens up the wonder of what can be achieved through sitting at your computer and tapping into the world around you. Like a chain email that you actually want to read, you can maximize your reach by using your ability to personalize your online experience. Before you know it, you'll be the pied piper of the digital world.

Aries are the pioneers of the Zodiac,
and this is certainly true ...

... where travel is concerned. Ever on the go and seeking action, the Ram is a moving target. "What am I going to do today? Is it hot? risky? different?" These are the kinds of questions Aries will ask themselves when they're on the road. And don't expect them to hang around very long for an answer, as they'll soon be someplace else.

Those born under the first Sign of the Zodiac want to learn a little about a lot -- knowing who built those pyramids in Giza and when is good information, whereas the why can be saved for someone else. It's safe to say that old flick, "If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium," was filmed with an Aries in mind!

Hopping from one place (and adventure) to the next, the Ram sets the agenda and expects others to follow it. No takers? Well, Aries are happy to travel alone, in which case they'll seek some company along the way, even if only for a meal or a night. Sexy as they are, it would be a waste to spend every night alone! Again, the stimulation of new people and new places is what the Ram craves when traveling, and the more active the journey, the better.
