In 2002, we were playing at the Grand National Adjudicators Invitational Concert Band and Orchestra Competition. When we got a recording of the performance, we were astonished by how much fun the audience, a group of high schoolers from various schools in the Southeast, was having so much FUN. So, we hatched a plan to take that recording, add some tracks, and make a CD out of it. In 2003, we went back to the Grand NAI and finished what came to be known as "Play That Funky Tuba Right, Boy!"
