Joe Henry Gipson & Willie Samantha Rodgers

Joe Henry, a Louisiana native; was working in Kaufman County Texas, when he met Willie Samantha.  They married in 1935.  Together they shared a full and happy life. 

The family moved to Simsboro (Lincoln Parish), Louisiana in the early 1940’s, where Papa owned land and became a farmer.  With the help of his brothers, he built the family home.  

Willie Samantha and Joe Henry lived in the home until their deaths.   

Willie, joined Mt. Calm Baptist Church with Joe Henry where she was an active and faithful member. 

Serving as an Usher, teacher of the Adult Women’s Sunday School Class, teacher in the Home Mission Society, and Associate Matron of the Mt. Calm Eastern Star Chapter No. #104. 

Joe Henry and Willie Samantha are both buried in the Mt. Calm Baptist Church Cemetery.  Papa and Mama have truly been missed. Children for Joe Henry and Willie Samantha are:

Virgil Josephas  Annie Lois (died, days after birth)  Leola Irene  Marion Joyce  Leon Norris  Jim Edd  Arthur Thomas  Harvey James
