WELCOME TO SNU JAZZ
It's time to get serious about Jazz. Here are some things I expect from each of you.
1. Come to rehearsal prepared. I expect the best from each of you.
2. Practice your part. Without practice you can't produce your best.
3. Attend the scheduled sectionals. At this moment the section leaders are:
Trumpets- Patrick Ward
Trombones- Doug Styers
Saxes- Clint Schubert
Rhythm Section- Don Munday
4. Listen to Jazz. This may seem silly but you can't play something unless you know what it sounds like. This site has several places for you to hear jazz. I would hope you have CD's in your room & car. DON'T LISTEN TO SMOOTH JAZZ! It turns your brain to jelly.
Take advantage of the links I've added to this page. The radio stations are great and the Jazz Books link has a wealth of information pertaining to playing jazz.
I'm going to be in my office on Thursdays from 10:00AM until 3:30PM. I will be teaching private lessons and will be available to help you between students. I hope you'll take advantage of letting me help you become better players.
