I am like a 'blog test driver' now.

A lot of times I am at a loss as to what to write in my blog(s). Well, mabe I can write about the various blog services I keep finding and trying out. A blog test driver so to speak.

I have recently tried out MSN Spaces (cool enough but needs to be able to work with non-IE browsers correctly; espically like the canned designs and various modules and the picture slideshow), SquareSpace (excellent; love the in-situ editing facilities), Blogger (can't beat free but other than that the others are pulling ahead, way ahead) and Live Journal (thats where I put down my money; well rounded feature wise and lots of posting options and clients; could offer a better interface and better canned designs and templates).

So far, Angelfire seems okay. A little non-intutivc when I started this out but okay after you get your first blog setup. I like Bloggers ability to create multiple blogs and AngelFire offers that too. No one else offers that except SquareSpace where I think you should be able to drop multiple blog\journal modules into your website.

The graphics are really cheezy and this editor really needs a makeover. Spellcheck is okay, at least it is not the really ugly implementation that LiveJournal has! But the first spelling error it gave me was the word 'blog'. I think they need to update their dictionary to at least the 20th century if not the 21st. I guess I should try graphics though I am not a big pictures+blog guy.

Well well, though the whole interface needs a makeover, their picture uploading and placement options are pretty decent. I am talking from a laypersons' point of view; I know that anybody with some html knowledge can do all sorts of tricks on their blogs.

Also love the per-entry security options (public, buddies and private). LJ has the same but you cannot password protect the whole blog like you can here (hide it) and on SS. Spaces has public, MS Messenger contacts and private. Blogger has diddly squat.

By the way, the graphic is the book cover of Operation Monsoon by Shona Ramaya. I have just read a little of it but think it is terrific. Normally I dont like female authors but here I will make an exception; sort of granting Shona a honarary male status. ;)
