"Hallo!!
My name is Josie (for those who don't know me yet..!!) and Patty, the creator of
this wonderful webpage, asked me to write the history of the Nothing But Julie
Club. It is my pleasure to tell you all how it all started.. I thought I'd start
at the very beginning..
Julie Andrews came into my life on October 1998 when a dear friend, Maya, asked
me about her. After being lost and not in the mood for anything for 10 months
after my parents' divorce, Julie seemed to be my only salvation. I remembered my
happy years as a child watching Mary Poppins and the rest was history SO I just
guessed that as I only knew Maya (with the love for Julie in common that is..),
I'd made some more friends to learn about Julie!
I was a complete ignorant, I must say, in things on the net as I just had the
connection at home and I was never kinda addicted to it (like my sisters were
LoL). Once I heard my sister talking about Clubs and such and telling how grand
they were and so on.. I asked her to tell me about it and there's when I learned
about it. I loved the idea so I joined every single club on Julie out there but
I wanted one of my own.. I wanted to change so many things on those that already
existed! I pictured the only way to do that was to create a new one.. ;))
The Nothing But Julie Club was founded on Saturday the 8th of January, 2000. I
thought that the clubs already running were not active enough and I particularly
needed some more Julie around me. The name came up when I made myself the
question: "What's the only thing that could make me happy right now?"
The answer was "Nothing But Julie" Usually on Christmas I am not on my
best mood - but that's a long story - and Julie, once again, seemed to be the
answer at that moment. I needed to hear again my brand new Camelot cd.. which
became my favourite since my sister gave it to me on Christmas day, 1998!!
Four days after I had created the club, the first member joined and after two
weeks we were five. I have to admit that the first few months I was not happy at
all with the club because it was not giving any results at all. I had to ask and
answer my own questions and I thought about deleting it many times. I thought
that it was going to be like any other club out there.. once in a while someone
would post and one week later another would answer.
Somehow I didn't delete it and decided I would prove myself and everyone that
told me it was not going anywhere that I'd make it active and that people would
someday love it. As the days passed more people joined and happier I felt..
still no one really posted a lot. It was about a year or so past when the most
active members started joining and posting. I remember thinking to myself:
"Who are ALL these people talking now?? That's weird..!" LoL
Apparently my technique of welcoming every single person that joined was
working.. they (YOU) started introducing themselves (yourselves); telling how
much they loved Julie and what was their favourite movie. I just loved it and
well.. I just replied to their messages and everyone was replying LoL and there
were a bunch of posts!! I don't remember exactly WHEN it happened but I can tell
you that I was amazed and just so thrilled to read from you.
We have people from all over the world, from Australia to Singapore, from
Germany to The Netherlands to Portugal to Spain to England, in lots of States of
USA, from Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Panama, two little gals dropped in the
Dominican Republic LoL (of course, we had to be born here.. otherwise we
couldn't complain about our bad luck with meeting Julie!! LoL) and well.. lots
of other countries, I assume, but I couldn't name them all..!! :))
The members of the Nothing But Julie are nothing but friendly, amazing, charismatic,
funny, understanding, loving and unique persons who happen to be the best group
I've ever belonged to (..weee belooooong togeeeeetheeeeer..) Our club is full
with talented and terrific persons who shall, if it's God's will, meet in the
JulieFest 2006!!
The Julie Family (as we call ourselves) was always there, we just didn't see it
until now.. I am happy we realized for I was desperately seeking for it!! ;))
Seems to me and all of us that Julie attracts the finest people for that's what
we all are, right?? We have to admit that we're the kind of people other people
would like to be.. and.. we present the kind of picture people are glad to
see..!! Hehehehe
Our club will be only 2 years old in 2002 but it feels like we've known each
other for a lifetime. I, your founder, will be forever thankful to each and
every one of you for really being there and for making my day.. day after day. I
shall have you all in my heart until the end of times. Thank you, I love
you."
