Moran are typically not pleased to become elders, despite the opportunity to marry and become leaders.

People wonder where prehistoric cave paintings come from. I am sure they are all exactly the same as the Samburu. On occasions of handing over warriorhood, and attaining elderhood, the Samburu repair to sacred places to indulge in a rare treat of roast meat, cut-off their ochred locks, and drink local beer immoderately. The combination of animal fat on their hands, ochre from their hair, and inspiration from the alcohol leads them to paint anything in sight.
