Activities in and around the Lodge

Custom Safaris

We specialise in walking safaris, or safaris assisted by donkey or camel.

There is almost nowhere left on earth that you can walk with elephant, lion, leopard, or wild pig, rather than see them from the isolation of a tourist bus. If that is for you, read on!

Guided Walks The East African Ornithological Society records over 250 bird species in the vicinity, including two of Africa's rarest birds, and of course, the plains game is there all day

Guided 1 to 7 day donkey safaris in the area There is pristine forest, with in-tact elephant trails, and abundant game. There is a five acre rock where we camp overnight. There is World's End, and a scramble down a vertical mile to the valley floor, and for the very adventurous, a 7 day hike to The Suguta Valley - one of the hottest places on Earth.

Guided Camel Safaris All around the area. Guided Forest Plant Expeditions From wild flowers to exotic orchids, the forests around the lodge hold many wonders. We know where you can see them. Other attractions Picnic lunches at World's End or a trek to The Petrified Forest.

Visit the house where Mzee Jomo Kenyatta was interned, and where he wrote Facing Mount Kenya (normally available in our bookshop).
