At work, like always. System's down for a while. Don't know what's wrong with it. Had to wake up both Andrea and FREDDIE, who is drowsily trying to figure out what is going on. We've managed to miss all three of the "major" rushes (7 or 8 calls per half-hour). Actually haven't taken a single call since I got here at 11. I can see action going on up on the dialer screen, so maybe there's hope.

Purchased $1.50 (!) in gas to top off tank, as well as fru-fru coffees and Krispy Kreme donuts. Jim is wired to the gills, having downed 2 doubleshots prior to leaving the house.

Celebrated the passing of our first100 miles, just east of DeSoto Bend. Have spotted the interstate. Captain Jim is still decisively wired.

Having just entered into our 6th hour of travel, we are poking along in a traffic jam. The interstate has gone down from three lanes to one due to accidents. This stinks.

Twenty-five minutes later, we have traveled a total of four miles! The good news is that we have just broken out of the jam, and are now back up to cruising speed. We are once again on our way.
Marshall, MO 3:40pm Mood: don't ask
Just passed 400 miles. We've had to take a bit of a detour (down state road "YY" of all things) because of ANOTHER accident. Once again, traffic has been at a crawl. Should be only a couple more miles back to the interstate. I hope.

Bought gas and ate supper at truck stop. Food wasn't too bad. Better than eating what snacks we have left in the car, anyway. : )
