Now Playing: school fight song
We were talking about things that happened while we were in school tonight. In the process, I learned a new (new to me, anyway) cheer. Goes like this: Rick 'em Rack 'em Rock 'em Ruck 'em, Get that ball and really FIGHT! Heard a story of a modern day shotgun wedding. Ok, so the only person armed was the naval guard, and he wasn't really involved, but still. I guess Jim was standing guard on the quarterdeck one day, and a real live hillbilly came up to him. Jim asked what he could help him with, and the man said "I wanna see my boy." Apparently, he was pretty upset, because that's all Jim could get out of him. So, finally, they got the son's name, and located him. While that was happening, the hillbilly was joined by several other people, including a young woman, very obviously "in the family way." The son appeared, and his father told him that he was "going to do right by this girl" to which the son replied, head hanging low "yes, daddy." A chaplain was rounded up, and the two were married. Immediately following the pronunciation of "man and wife", the father breaks out a large jug of moonshine (where he had it that whole time, we don't know), and declares it time to party! He insists that everyone take a sip. Jim tells me he could see the fumes coming out of that bottle. Not a good sign. He didn't say how it tasted, but the look on his face told me all I need to know.
