Also please pray for Kathy, mother of a special needs son, who is giving custody to the father of him because the father will not provide for what the child needs unless she does and she is really torn up about it and meets with the judge today to make things final maybe her husbands heart wont be so hardened and she wont have to do this. (she can not provide everything this child needs unless the father steps up to the plate and where she lives the courts are not very supportive at all.)

Today, while I was on the Internet, I saw MY position and the position of my evening supervisor. I requested a copy of my eval & was told I would have it today. We have recently realized that our 15 yr old son Peter needs treatment for alcohol & drugs. I sit here at 2:30 A.M. He slipped out at 12:30 waiting for him to return & in what condition. We took him in for outpatient but I am wondering if that will be enough. We need your prayers he is facing expulsion from school, for drinking at school. He is not a bad kid, just troubled. I have to put this in God's hands. We have no insurance for paying for treatment.

Hearts of Stone

And I will give them one heart, and put a new Spirit within them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God.

Hearts of stone, left on our own this is what we would have. Stone is cold, hard, lifeless - this is in contrast to the new life, the new spirit that comes with accepting Jesus as savior. This new life, new spirit in Jesus is also associated with new wine - joy.

You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.

Do you think it's a coincidence that Jesus' first miracle was turning water to wine? ()

The wine ran out (v3) Take a look at what Jesus does.

John tells us there were six stone water pots. These water pots held the water the Jews used to wash according to the laws of purification.(v6) The number 6 is the number of man. Again stone is lifeless, cold & hard. The 6 stone pots are like man's heart without the Lord Jesus. Next John tells us that Jesus instructs to fill these stone pots to the brim with fresh water(v7) Jesus doesn't change old water to wine, He uses fresh water for the change.

I love this symbolism!

Water is an important symbol of the Holy Spirit - especially fresh water.

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

In Jesus' first miracle the water is a symbol for the role of the Holy Spirit in this miracle. The Holy Spirit provides fresh water for purification and new life - the fresh water is turned to wine. Not just any wine - the choice wine. (v9-10) This is the same role the Holy Spirit plays in giving us new hearts, new spirits. WOW!

Thank You Lord that you do not leave us on our own with cold, hard, lifeless hearts. Help us each turn to You and invite You into our hearts - to purify and put a new Spirit within us, that we may walk in Your way and be Your people. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ

Feeling low? Life is sometimes a struggle - even for people of God. It would be great if we could just make our trials go away immediately somehow - but that usually doesn't happen. Yet even in our darkest moments we can find hope. Look at this part of Psalm 119.

25 I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word.
26 I recounted my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees.
27 Let me understand the teaching of your precepts; then I will meditate on your wonders.
28 My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.
29 Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me through your law.
30 I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws.
31 I hold fast to your statutes, O LORD; do not let me be put to shame.
32 I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.

How does the psalmist go from feeling as low as dust to hope? He goes to God's word {preserve my life, strengthen me according to your word}. He meditates on, chooses and holds fast to God's word. The result? His heart is set free -- it goes from dust to hope!

Please continue to pray for me for healing. The doctors do not give me hope; they just shake their heads but my hope is in my Lord, Jehovah Rophe, our healer. My urgent physical need is healing from a terrible skin infection which has produced a terribly itchy rash all over my body. The rash bleeds and I am very uncomfortable when my clothing touches the skin. Medication is not working. Thanks for your prayers.

The "Red Cross"

The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you.

In a book called The Great Boer War, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle tells of a small detachment of British troops who were surprised by an overwhelming enemy force. The British had to quickly retreat under heavy fire with little time to carry any of the wounded with them.

Out there on the battlefield, the injured men faced certain death. One of them was a corporal in the Ceylon Mounted Infantry. He realized that they would only survive if they could come under the protection of a Red Cross flag. The corporal had strength enough to use blood from his wounds and those of his friends to paint a large red cross on a piece of white cloth. When the enemy saw the flag with the blood-stained cross, they held their fire. The British were able to move the wounded to a safe place.

What a poignant and powerful story. It's the story of Exodus 12, which says, "When I see the blood, I will pass over you." And it's also why staying beneath the cross of Jesus is the best place to be whether you're under attack or not. The cross of Christ is a red cross, and the enemy doesn't dare touch us. We are safe in His shadow.

When you feel overwhelmed with fear, guilt, or weariness, picture yourself at the foot of the cross with your arms wrapped around it, hanging on as tight as you can. You will be covered by the blood, and God will protect you.

Jesus, my Savior, help me to remember to huddle in the shadow of Your cross today and to recall you have me "covered." I am safe.

Standing Still?

... great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him."
The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;
it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

I've been thinking about waiting on the Lord recently -- probably because I am not good at it.

Look at the above verses. It is good to wait quietly -- it may be good but it's so hard for me to do. Only when I remind myself that He is faithful, that I can trust Him, can I even attempt to wait on Him. I find I need His help to do this.

Part of the reason it's hard to wait on the Lord -- or for anything is that it appears you are doing nothing - you are standing still. In the waiting it appears that you are not moving forward.

This is what I was noticing today. I was looking back on one of these waiting times in my life, remembering how frustrating it was to feel like I was standing still, not moving forward. Do you know what I saw? In this time of waiting on Lord, this time of appearing to stand still, it was in this time that I was actually moving forward, moving closer to the Lord. It was in this time that my hope and trust in the Lord had also moved forward.

Are you in the middle of one of those times today?

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Be assured, it's during these times more than any other, that the Lord actually moves your heart forward closer to Him, inspite of how it appears.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

Lord, help us to wait on You, to hope in You, to trust You. Remind each of us just how great Your faithfulness is - today & always.

Please pray that Paul and I will obtain financing for an offer we put in that was accepted on a house. The sellers accepted our conditional offer on obtaining financing. We are in the process of either renting this home out or selling. It all depends on what the bank advises.

This is a home we fell in love with and are praying about. It wasn’t a planned move but one we believe is great.

Thanks. This is important for Paul and I as it is similar to a house we initially desired when we first began to look in Hamilton but was in need of major repairs. This house truly is a gem and would meet all our needs including that fact Paul’s father would have his own room (which he needs) when he visits (he visits often) and should at some point, need to stay with us more frequently due to his own health issues.

Shadow of Death

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

The following gives new meaning to the phrase 'the shadow of death'.

A very moving story is told about a renowned preacher who lost his young wife. In the confusion of her fresh grief, his little daughter came to him and asked why it was that if Jesus has died for our sins we still have to die. He waited for the appropriate illustration with which to help her young mind understand what God has done for us. On the way to the funeral, their car was behind a big truck. Drawing her attention to the truck, he looked at his daughter and asked if she had to be run over, would she rather be run over by a truck or by its shadow on the side of the road. "Why of course," she said, "the shadow would be better, because it would not hurt as much."

He paused and answered her gently, "That is what Jesus has done for you. On His death upon the cross, He let the truck of God's judgment pass over Him. Only the shadow of death goes over us now."

'O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?' The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You Lord that thru Jesus we only experience the shadow of death. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Love of the Lord

I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

This verse has been on my heart for a few days. It has brought me comfort. I love the Lord and have really been seeking His will on some things lately. The verse reassured me that the Lord loves those who love Him and seek Him. Also that seeking Him thru love -- He will be found. This was on my heart this morning again when I heard the following song -- the Lord IS good!

I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

... No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him ...

Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

Thank God! I saw my grandchildren Sunday for the first time in 11 months. I was so happy and thye were too, hugging and kissing us and telling us how much they missed us, etc. and vice versa. We still need prayers to keep moving forward and allowing continued healing in this family. We still have to go to court to get visitation details ironed out. Look how far we have come with all our friends and families support and continous prayer in harmony with us and God's grace . He is touching peoples hearts every day, Every day las week a new miracle for us, what a week last week was!!Seeing Joshua and Adam gave me more incentive to fight for them and the power to keep going. Thanks to all, for all the care you have poured out to me through this tragic period.

I have a prayer request for a friend of mine. She is going through some very serious spiritual warfares right now. She's holding on to the Lord's word but needs help in standing strong in this fight. She's about lose her children, and her husband seems to be covered with a very strong spirit. She's very worried for her children and her safety. Please help me to come into agreement that the Lord cover her and her children with HIS blood. Lord, I am asking for protection, comfort, strength, guidance, courage, YOUR supernatural wisdom to make the right choices during heavy time of adversity. Dear Heavenly Father, please keep her under your wings of grace. I ask for your favor and blessings over my friend at this time, dear Lord. I ask all this in your mighty name, Jesus. Amen.

Praise! Another testimony on how the Lord works miracles!!! My daughter made amends with me, wants me to see my grandchildren,Hallelujah!!! The father of the children said he will speak to me & my husband about the children on Saturday and perhaps we can take the boys on an outing!! We have not seen our grandboys in 10 months. His wife (our daughter is not married to the children's father) wants us to be part of the boys lives again, as well, and is going to speak to her husband. The Lord is truly working in everyone hearts. HE is stirring all of them. HE has removed 3 roadblocks in less than one week for me!!!! HE truly works things out for the good of his children "Me & My grandboys "Joshua & Adam". Thank you for all prayers and christian support. I put the lawyer on hold for now with the petition for grandparent rights and if we are allowed to see the children again, I will ask for an agreed order to be filed that will legally have all our visitation as grandparents spelled out and regulated and we "all" will sign it to make it binding. PRAISE GOD!!!

I need prayer. I am in the midst of working the overnight shift at work which physically I truly dislike. I am tired of feeling tired all the time. Along with this, my daughter Cheryl and grandson Joshua – the father who has truly created so much lies (honestly – everything he has claimed in court papers are all untrue – I’m still in shock that someone could be so ugly) and this month my husband is seeing a specialist as his cancer may be back in his thyroid. I’m truly burdened, feel tired from the shift change and the worries. I know God is with me, but am I with him? I feel very alone and very sad and my heart is breaking into so many pieces. So please pray. I started smoking again (after quitting for the fourth time) and desire to give it all up once and for all but even this is a battle. I don’t know what I need. I just pray that for Paul, it isn’t cancer and I pray that the courts will see the uttered lies being used against my daughter in trying to claim custody of our grandson. I feel as if I’m in the midst of losing so many people I love dearly. It’s scary. Thanks for your prayers. I am just so confused, scared and worries.

Desert Place

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

... I provide water in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.

Have you ever gone thru a desert place in your life? A time when you felt spiritually dry? Extremely thirsty? Longing for a drink of living water?

If you have maybe you've noticed a few things about the desert. The drier you get the more you seek the living water. This brings to mind the panting deer and the following question.

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Looking more closely at Psalm 42 & 43, the psalmist answers this question. Both Psalms end with this thought.

Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Praise!! Praise is also present in the Isaiah 43 verse, in the desert. How can we praise God in a desert place -- a place where we are so dry?

Send forth your light and your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. Then will I go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God.

The Lord will guide, He will guide to the place where He dwells. Look at the Isaiah 43 verse again. Being in the desert leads to dryness which in turn leads to a new level of seeking the living water. Isn't it interesting that there in the desert - the wasteland is where the Lord provides living water - drink for His people, that this is also where a 'new thing' springs up? This gives hope to one in a desert place. Do you find yourself in a in a desert place today? Try putting your hope in the Lord, seek Him thru praise. Let Him guide you to the living water and refresh you with a long deep drink. Listen for His voice and look for the 'new thing' He is doing. Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? Listen for the call of your name on His lips.

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

Thank You Lord that thru Your Son Jesus Christ we become Yours, You call us by name. Help us each listen for this call and seek Your guidance. Lord, next time we find ourselves in the desert place, help us to remember to look for the living water that You will provide, help us to perceive the new thing that will spring up. Help us each always to put our hope in the Lord Jesus Christ that we will yet praise Him, our Savior and our God.

Breathe On Me, Breath of God

He breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’

Ever notice the wind right before a big thunderstorm? At first I usually fight it, trying to keep my hair out of my face and to continue walking straight. After a while I realise that I'd do far better just letting it take me, going 'with the flow' rather than pushing against it, fighting, battening down.

At times the power of the wind leaves you in awe. Like the power of the Spirit moving on the face of the waters, the rushing wind at Pentecost, the ruach of the Old Testament. Wind, however, can also be a gentle breeze, caressing, barely there.

The breathe of God is like this, it can be powerful, forceful hard to miss or it can be subtle, gentle, a soft caress. Either way, if you just let the breath blow on you, trust it and let it move you, like the above song you'll be filled with life anew.

Thank You Lord for Your breath. Help each of us be open to however Your wind is moving in our lives today. Whether strong and forceful or gentle and caressing, help us each trust and follow Your moving. Thank You that You have promised Your Holy Spirit to whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ...

Made Me Glad

Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence. For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

I read the following from Our Daily Bread (above link) -- it's very timely in the wake of hurricane Katrina.

What good is faith when all seems lost? I've asked that penetrating question in my life, and not long ago I received a letter from a mom who has asked it as well.

She told me that she and her husband set out in their marriage to seek God's will for their lives and entrust their future to Him. Then their second son was born with Down syndrome. Their initial response was "grief, shock, and disbelief." Yet the same day he was born, God used Philippians 4:6-7 to put peace in their hearts and give them an undying love for their precious son. It says: "Let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts."

But their days in the desert were not over. Nine years later, their fourth son was diagnosed with cancer. Before he reached his third birthday, he was gone. Shock, pain, and sadness again broke into their world. And again, they found help from God and His Word. "When the grief overwhelms us," says this mom, "we turn to God's Word and His gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ."

When life's troubles hit us like a tidal wave, we can remember that God's compassions never fail (Lamentations 3:22). He can give us the hope we need. —Dave Branon

O God, we remember when the disciples of Jesus were terrified after a long night on a turbulent sea. When they cried to you for help, you stilled the sea and brought them to safety. We ask now that you comfort and still the hearts of those suffering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina. We pray for those who have been displaced and who now must return to homes destroyed or damaged by the storm. We pray for those whose lives were lost and for those who now must grieve the loss of a loved one. We pray for those who are attempting to offer help and relief to victims. While we wonder why such devastation can occur, where lives and property can seem held so capriciously in the hand of what is uncontrollable, we know, O God, that you count every hair on our head and that our names are written on the palm of your hand. Let your loving grace wash over those who must now face damaged lives, homes, and possessions. Hold them close to yourself until they are sure of the security of your loving embrace. God's Hand Reaching Out

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

How does God reach out to us, speak to us, guide us? Some say it’s thru nature - a sunset, a rainbow, the song of a bird or thru a Bible verse or a prayer or thru music. Sometimes God communicates thru encounters with other people - sometimes it’s a friend, sometimes a stranger. Whoever it is, he or she is probably unaware of relaying a message from God! Has this ever happened to you? The following is one of these encounters, when behind human words or acts we perceive the outstretched hand of God.

You've probably seen or heard the following statements before.

God allows U-truns.

God is in the business of removing roadblocks.

So when you come to an obstacle blocking your path - how do you know what to do? Both of the above statements could be correct. The obstacle could have been placed there because you need to change direction, or it could be there simply to make you wait on God's timing - so how do you know which it is?

This is the situation I was facing. I thought God was calling me down a certain path only to find this path blocked. I did question whether or not I was on the right path, whether I heard His call correctly and should wait on His timing or if I should change my direction. My prayer was something like this, "Lord if I heard Your call correctly please confirm it, let it grow. If this calling is not form You, I renouce it. Lord, I want to follow You alone, I want to follow with my whole heart."

A few days later the Lord answered this prayer in an amazing way. Though I heard no audible voice, the Lord did speak to me thru 3 songs and a person's words. The first song.

Everyday, it's You I live for
Everyday, I'll follow after You
Everyday, I'll walk with You, my Lord
Every day Lord I learn to stand upon your word
and I pray that I might come to know you more
And You would guide me in every single step I take
that everyday I could be a light unto the world

When I heard these words it's as if the Lord said, "I heard your prayer, I know you want to follow me, I'll help you." The next song.

Don't let my love grow cold
I'm calling out, light the fire again
Don't let my vision die
I'm calling out, light the fire again

These words confirmed to me that I heard His calling correctly, especially light the fire again. I wanted to be used by Him again. Then the following song.

Arms Of Love

I sing a simple song of love To my Savior, to my Jesus. I'm grateful for the things You've done, My loving Savior, my precious Jesus.

My heart is glad that You've called me Your own. There's no place I'd rather be than

In Your arms of love, In Your arms of love. Holding me still, holding me near, In Your arms of love.

This song really touched me because it paints the following image. It's also interesting that only a few weeks ago I pointed out the connection between this song and image to someone else.

This image has special meaning to me. It is an image that the Lord has used to confirm a calling He had for me in the past. It was touching to me that the Lord would use this image to confirm my calling again and reassure me that I was on the right path. This was enough to reassure me, but it wasn't all. After the service I ended up having a converstion with someone. During the conversation the person ended up telling me something like this "I feel the Lord directed me to this church, so I will not change my direction until I hear from Him again." This surprised me, it was very clear to me that it was the Lord telling me not to change my direction, to keep going on the path that I was on. The Lord had definitely answered my prayer. So for now I would stay on the path He put me on and not change direction.

Thank You Lord that Your hand is always there waiting, outstretched, reaching for each of us. Help us each be aware of Your outstretched hand, Your voice. Open our hearts and minds that we might clearly percieve and follow Your lead. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.
