Thick darkness is over the peoples. As darkness covers the earth, remember His song in the night. Only the Lord can give songs in the night - only He can give peace and joy to His children in the midst of their trials and sorrows. It is only through Him that songs can spring up out of troubled hearts to face the night. With these songs in the night He can accomplish much more than all we could ask or imagine. The songs of the Lord carry us thru the darkness of night, until right at the darkest point, right before dawn, the Bright Morning Star appears.

To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Job 39:19-25
Do you give the horse his strength
or clothe his neck with thunder (power)?

Do you make him leap like the locust?

Job's description of a magnificent spirited war-horse, the perfect picture of strength, power, boldness and courage. As great as this horse is -- it is a reminder that God's strength is greater. In fact it is God who gives the horse it's strength, in contrast what can man do?
 
It is God who gives victory, the battle belongs to Him. He saves His anointed.
 
Ecc 9:11
The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong

 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
         But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
 They (enemies of the Lord) have bowed down and fallen;
         But we have risen and stand upright.

This is the picture of Joel's army. A magnificent army of spirited war horses, anointed with strength by the power of the Lord's Spirit resting upon each one.

Joel 2:1-4
Blow a trumpet in Zion,
And sound an alarm on My holy mountain!
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,
For the day of the LORD is coming;
Surely it is near,
A day of darkness and gloom,
A day of clouds and thick darkness
As the dawn is spread over the mountains,
So there is a great and mighty people;
There has never been anything like it,
Nor will there be again after it
To the years of many generations.
A fire consumes before them
And behind them a flame burns
The land is like the garden of Eden before them
But a desolate wilderness behind them,
And nothing at all escapes them.
Their appearance is like the appearance of horses;
And like war horses, so they run.

 

Who gives the horse it's strength
Or clothes it's neck with thunder?
The majestic snorting of the white horse is terrible.
He rejoices in his strength.
He does not turn back from the sword.
He does not stand still at the voice of the trumpet.
The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong.
The battle belongs to the LORD!

‘ Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ 
   Says the LORD of hosts.

Trust in the LORD.
The eye of the Lord is on the ones who fear Him.

He gives strength to the heart that is completely His.
To His great and mighty army.
This army will not stand still at the voice of the trumpet.
Like spirited war horses they run, they run to meet the battle.

 
LISTEN FOR THE TRUMPET

Listen for the trumpet in Zion!
The Lord is giving birth to His own -
Warriors with fire in their hands
Going forth in His love, coming forth from His throne

Listen for the war cry in Zion
Like dawn spreading over the mountains,
The army of the Lord is appearing
Such as never was of old, nor ever shall be again
The army of the Lord! The army of the Lord!

Arise! Arise! Arise! Arise!!!!

Zech 4:2-3
And said to me, What do you see? I said, I see, and behold, a lampstand all of gold, with its bowl [for oil] on the top of it and its seven lamps on it, and [there are] seven pipes to each of the seven lamps which are upon the top of it. And there are two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl and the other upon the left side of it [feeding it continuously with oil].

Zech 4:6-7
Then he said to me, This [addition of the bowl to the candlestick, causing it to yield a ceaseless supply of oil from the olive trees] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of Whom the oil is a symbol], says the Lord of hosts.

For who are you, O great mountain [of human obstacles]? Before Zerubbabel [who with Joshua had led the return of the exiles from Babylon and was undertaking the rebuilding of the temple, before him] you shall become a plain [a mere molehill]! And he shall bring forth the finishing gable stone [of the new temple] with loud shoutings of the people, crying, Grace, grace to it!

The eyes of the Lord search to and fro
Looking, looking to strengthen hearts that are completely His.
He is looking for the golden lampstands
Lampstands with golden empty bowls on top
Hearts that have made room
These are the hearts that will be filled with golden oil
An endless supply of golden oil flows to completley commited hearts
Pure hearts, tried and refined hearts
Hearts enabled to ride upon the white horse of endless strength and power
 
Not by might, nor by power but by my Spirit says the LORD
 
The white horse conquers and removes mountains
Mountains placed in the way
Every mountain will be made low
Every valley lifted up
That every eye may see
The rising glory of the LORD
 
Prepare the way for the LORD
Prepare your heart
Place your empty bowl atop your lampstand
Be filled with the golden oil
Let your lamp burn bright
Ride upon the white horse of endless strength and power
Arise
Listen for the sound of the trumpet
Sound an alarm on my Holy Mountain
Empowered by my golden oil
Ride upon the white horse, run to meet the battle.

Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Note:

This is closely linked with my post about the 'white war horse' -- my pic was missing the golden oil. It's extremely interesting to me that the white horse I've been seeing is linked with the golden oil in Zech 4.

Strength in the Spirit

An interesting observation:

In Zech 4 -- everything is pure gold -- no dross is mentioned.

Zech 13:8-9
It will come about in all the land, Declares the LORD,
"That two parts in it will be cut off and perish;
But the third will be left in it.
And I will bring the third part through the fire,
Refine them as silver is refined,
And test them as gold is tested
They will call on My name,
And I will answer them;
I will say, 'They are My people,'
And they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"

Malachi 3:3
He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the LORD offerings in righteousness.

The church triumphant tried & refined by fire -- the golden candlestick -- with the golden bowl supplied by an endless supply of golden oil -- producing a bright shining light.

This passage (again from Zech 4) also shows the church triumphant -- no spot, no blemish -- the church triumphant that will rule as priests. WOW!

Zech 4:14
Then said he, These are the two sons of oil [Joshua the high priest and Zerubbabel the prince of Judah, the two anointed ones] who stand before the Lord of the whole earth [as His anointed instruments]. *

* The oil used in anointing symbolizes the Holy Spirit (Zech. 4:6). The combination of priest and ruler points ultimately to the Messianic Priest-King (Ps. 110; Zech. 6:13; Heb. 7).

It's no mistake that the white horse is also a sign of royalty....

Love with an Open Hand

I'm sure everyone has heard this expression before.

"If you love someone let them go, if they return, they're forever yours."

The above picture is a wonderful illustration of this quote. The bird is free to fly away at anytime. I love the above picture -- the opposite would be to put the bird in a cage taking away it's free will.

This is how the Lord loves. His love gives free will - He loves with an open hand.

Since we are to be in the Lord's image this a challenge to us. Love as the Lord loves.

 

 

1 John 4:7-12
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. Two Mountains

For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them. For they could not bear the command, "IF EVEN A BEAST TOUCHES THE MOUNTAIN, IT WILL BE STONED." And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, "I AM FULL OF FEAR and trembling."

But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.

Mount Sinai and Mount Zion, look at the contrast!

Mount Sinai is where the children of Israel gathered around in order to receive the law from God which was the law of Moses - the Ten Commandments (). While Moses was in the mountain. The people abandoned God and made a golden calf to worship. Because of this, God was very angry with the people and about three thousand were slain on that day ().

Christian are told that they are not gathered around Mount Sinai, instead, they are come to Mount Zion. Mount Zion is called: (1) the city of the living God; (2) the Heavenly Jerusalem; (3) the general assembly; and, (4) the church of the firstborn. Micah 4:2 states, "for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem." Moses was a type of Christ and he gave the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. Christ came to this earth, died for our sins and was resurrected, and gave his law on spiritual Mount Zion. Micah 4:7 goes on to say that "the LORD shall reign over them in Mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever." Christ gave his law on spiritual Mount Zion and is reigning over his people in that mountain today.

3000 Died - 3000 Saved

It is also interesting to note that on the day Moses came down from the mountain 3000 were slain, but on the day the church was established in Mount Zion, 3000 were saved (). The law of Moses was a law of spiritual death because nobody could keep it perfectly, but the law of Christ is a law of life because it provides for the forgiveness of our sins.

Lamb Stands on Mount Zion

This parallel symbolism can be used to help interpret several passages in the book of Revelation. Rev. 14:1 says, "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the Mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads." This picture is taken precisely from the comparison of Mount Sinai and Mount Zion. Christ(Lamb)is standing on Mount Zion and 144,000 are standing with him. All we have to do to understand this symbolism is ask the question; "Who stands with Christ on Mount Zion." The obvious answer to that is: Christians. We are the ones who have come to Mount Zion (Heb. 12:22), and Christ is reigning over us today in that mountain (Micah 4:7). We symbolically have the name of the Father written in our foreheads which means we pledge our allegiance and thoughts to him. This in direct contrast to those who are not following Christ and have the mark of the Beast in their foreheads (Rev. 13:16).

Christians Stand with Christ on Mount Zion

We need to realize the importance of what it means to stand with Christ in Mount Zion. The drawing below illustrates how Christians are reigning with Christ on Mount Zion today, and it also shows the path we must follow in order to be among those who stand with him.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire."

To the Israelites the glory of the LORD looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain.

They will see eye to eye with the King

Release Rejection

October 13, 2006: Make the right choices to get your heart right before Me, says the Lord. Your desert experience has its roots in rejection, bitterness, and unforgiveness. I tell you truly that you cannot ride out of your desert until you release everyone and everything from the past. This is a time when you can once and for all be done with all injustice and reproach and move ahead in My plans and purposes. You will not regret making choices for freedom -- yours and theirs.

"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

October 13, 2006: When someone rejects My Word through you, it is not your burden to carry. I give free will to mankind. If their choices are not My decision, then why would they be yours? Do not take responsibility for their choice. Release yourself from the burden of such. Give the person to Me: forgive and release. The weight and gravity from such is much too much for you, My tender one. Walk on.

He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.

This 'word' and scripture from luke have been on my own heart many times -- this morning in fact. Along with the following:

“Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out. And when you go into a household, greet it. If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet."

Giving the person or group of people that rejected you or your word to God -- releasing and forgiving -- is an important part of letting 'peace' return to you and shaking off the dust.

In my experience this is not easy, it's always painful -- but the verse from luke does bring me comfort -- and there is a peace that comes when you work thru rejection.

Don't let rejection stop you from speaking peace.
Stand and speak! Speak what the Lord gives you.
Whether they listen or not, whether accepted or rejected.
Just remember if it's not received -- shake off the dust
Let the peace return

The Kiss of Righteousness and Peace

Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed. Truth shall spring out of the earth, And righteousness shall look down from heaven. Yes, the LORD will give what is good; And our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway.

The peace of v10 means more than no fighting or no war. It translates to the hebrew word "shalom". It is a peace that only God can give. What happens when righteousness and peace kiss?

When one accepts the Lord Jesus thru faith they have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. People willing to forsake their sins and follow after righteousness find this peace. They are transformed by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, having been justified by faith (declared righteous), we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Where do righteousness and peace kiss? On the cross.

He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

It is only by kneeling at the foot of the cross and trusting the King of righteousness and the King of peace that one finds true righteousness and peace, that one can experience this kiss.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Beware of Demanding Signs & Wonders

Look up with a discerning eye, the eye of the Holy Spirit
Many will come with signs wonders & miracles
Not all will be of Christ
Many will come to deceive
To deceive even the elect -- if possible
Keep your eye on the Lord Jesus Christ

... false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible.

God's love will reveal the true

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Love - love of God and love of others - this is what it is all about!
This is the mark of a true prophet ...
This is the mark of a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ
This is also the 'greatest commandment' ...

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Beware of demanding or chasing signs & wonders

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. He replied, "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." JESUS THEN LEFT THEM AND WENT AWAY.

Seek the face of the Lord Jesus
The work of Christ is to BELIEVE, a work of the heart

And these signs will follow those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.

Face Like Flint

The Lord GOD has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned. The Lord GOD has opened My ear; And I was not rebellious, Nor did I turn away. I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. For the Lord GOD will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed. He is near who justifies Me; Who will contend with Me? Let us stand together. Who is My adversary? Let him come near Me.

This expression ' I have set my face like a flint' is still on my mind -- what does this really mean?

... Flint: , n.
... 1. (Min.) A massive, somewhat impure variety of quartz, in color
... usually of a gray to brown or nearly black, breaking with a conchoidal
... fracture and sharp edge. It is very hard, and strikes fire with steel.
... 2. A piece of flint for striking fire; -- formerly much used, esp. in the hammers of gun locks.
... 3. Anything extremely hard, unimpressible, and unyielding, like flint. “A heart of flint.” Spenser.

Jesus had His face set like a flint towards His purpose. Towards His purpose - the Father's will - He was unyielding with a dogged determination, unshakeable, tenacious, He did not give way to pressure or persuasion.

He carried out His purpose by walking boldly in confidence in His Father. Face set like flint not to be dissuaded from His calling -- to endure the cross.

For He knew the Lord would help Him.

This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify:
the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.

These words fit well with Embrace! Notice how loud they are. : )

Hosanna is best known from the Triumphal Entry (Matthew 21:9), where it was used as an exclamation of praise.

Hallelujah! Hallelu -Yah is the Hebrew contraction of the Hebrew words meaning, "praise" and the Hebrew name for God, "Yah," a shortened form of YAHWEH -- 'Praise the LORD'. Further investigation shows the Hebrew word used here for praise is halal. Halal means to make a show, to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; to celebrate. So 'Praise the LORD' or 'Hallelu-Yah' is a call to celebrate with your whole being, the LORD - YAHWEH.

Hail is an enthusiastic greeting or salute, an acclamation - a shout of enthusiastic approval.

Speak Peace!

I'm still thinking about standing in His rest in the face of battle. A good way to do that is to 'Speak Peace!'. Speaking peace, the peace of the Gospel, brings about the Lord's victory. : )

Speak peace!

Prepare, put on the full armor of God.

Stand, face the enemy with firm-footed stability.

Speak peace in faith!

Stand in the grace and strength of our Lord Jesus Christ. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Say to Zion "Our God Reigns"!

Speak peace and see the victory that the Prince of peace brings. The enemy is crushed under the feet of peace.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Speak peace in faith!

A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, But the low to anger calms a dispute.

If the ruler's temper rises against you, do not abandon your position, because composure allays great offenses.

Shoes of Peace

And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.

How can do you put on these shoes of peace?

SPEAK IT!!
"I shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. I have peace with God through my faith in Jesus and have access to God. I have his resources at my disposal for the battles I may face today. Father, please guide my footsteps and secure me on your path of righteousness today. Thank you, Father!"

Stand in His Rest

This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls."

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Notice these two verses, the idea of standing in His rest. This was interesting to me, usually when I thought of rest before it was in terms of being inactive - I associated this with laying down or sleeping. In these verses finding His rest seems to be an active process.
-- stand and look for the 'good way'
-- ask, actively seek
-- find and then walk in it

-- be strong in the Lord and His power
-- put on the full armor
-- actively prepare
-- after preparation, simply stand
-- stand in the Lord's strength & power

To stand like this, to stand in His rest in the face battle, you need a deep trust in the Lord. Trusting with all your heart in His sovereignty, His love and that He uses everything for His good purposes; this is the secret of standing in His rest.

For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness, When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work. For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.’ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.

Lord, continue to deepen our trust in You, in Your sovereignty, in Your love. Show us how to actively prepare our hearts, how to put on the full armor of God. Show us how to stand in Your rest, in Your perfect peace in the face of battle. Let Your peace shine, illuminating the 'good way', that souls may enter your glorious rest.
