The Valley of Decision

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

Isn't it interesting that the strong winds, the turbulence, the storms often found in 'The Valley of Vision' (Isaiah 22), often are the things that bring about decisions which reveal the true ruler of your heart?

The Valley of Decision, as described in Joel 3:14, is a place of judgment. The Lord gathers all nations and brings them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat means the LORD judges. In this context multitudes are standing in the Valley of Decision, but it is God who does the deciding, not man. It is a Valley of Judgment, the decision for or against Jesus has already previously been made.


God Will Battle Jerusalem's Foes
1Behold, a day is coming for the LORD when the spoil taken from you will be divided among you.

2For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.

3Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle.

4In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.

5You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah Then the LORD, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!

6In that day there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle.

7For it will be a unique day which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light.

8And in that day living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.

God Will Be King over All
9And the LORD will be king over all the earth; in that day the LORD will be the only one, and His name the only one.

This goes with Isaiah 22

This chapter refers to the city of Jerusalem as "the valley of vision," because God reveals Himself to His people here. Isn't it interesting to find the words "valley" and "vision" in the same sentence? How can one see anything from a valley -- unless the Lord reveals it? Think about it … most of us would not go to the lowest place to see. But isn't this exactly the way the Lord works?

Think about the valleys in your own life. Isn't in the valleys where you grow the most?

Strong Winds

Behold, the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by strong winds, are still directed by a very small rudder, wherever the inclination of the pilot desires.

The image of a strong wind blowing a ship. Strong winds can be very turbulent. Have you ever been on a ship during a storm?

If I were on a ship in a storm, I know my first tendency would be to grab for the rudder -- the control -- and hang on tight.

It's our natural inclination to try to control and manipulate, especially in a strong wind or storm.

This is just the opposite of what the Lord tells us. We need to give the rudder -- the control -- to Him. He alone knows the way thru the strong winds, thru the turbulence, thru the storm.

This need to be in control can prevent us from receiving all that God has for us. Today surrender all to Him, be fully obedient.

For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has rejected you as king.

... To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

Thank You Lord that You are always in control. When we find ourselves 'sailing' thru a storm, remind each of us of this. Help us 'take our hands off the rudder' and surrender control to You. Help each of us rest in the knowledge that You are sovereign and Your plans are best.

Christ Have Mercy

Why does a particular kind of Christian personality-type appear so eager to see God wipe people out? Why are some self-proclaimed prophets overly keen to see blood (but never their own!) spilt in the name of the wrath and judgement of God?

"I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live." (Ezekiel 33.11)

" 'Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?' But He turned and rebuked them, and said, 'You do not know what kind of spirit you are of; for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.' " (Luke 9.54)

"The Lord...is not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3.9)

It will be given to few of God's "mouths" in the Last Days to proclaim the holy and just judgements of the Lord. And the validity of the prophecy will be determined by the conditon of the prophet. If he lusts and craves for the destruction he predicts to take place, then he is not true. The authentic will be exactly like the Prophet Amos, who upon "seeing" the severe chastisements of God coming upon Israel, cried out on two occasions,

"Lord God, please pardon...please stop! How can Jacob stand, for he is small?" The Bible records that "the Lord changed His mind...relented...about this. 'It shall not be,' said the Lord." (Amos 7.1-7)

In the Last Days the true seers will be found (after much searching) on their faces, employing their own poor, salty tears holding back the flood-tide of God's just judgement, which they know only too well must in the end break through into history.

"God, be merciful to me, the sinner."

This 'rings' so true. It also seems to be an answer to my question about the dogs.

Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession." Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us." He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." "Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

Who Is the Dog?

Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh.

This parable is interesting in light of the warnings about dogs. This catches my attention:

-- tossing bread to the dogs doesn't seem right

-- but even dogs eat the crumbs that fall

The woman received much more than crumbs for her faith.

Hidden Treasure



Accept the Word
Incline your ear to wisdom

Search as if searching for hidden treasure

The Spirit searches all things, knows all things
Deep hidden treasures of God
The Spirit of truth guides
Guides on every good path
Guides on ways previously unknown


No eye has seen

No mind the glorious riches of Christ has conceived
But to those who love the Lord
Who trust in Him completely


Hidden treasure is revealed

Watch out for the dogs
These dogs with mighty appetites

An interesting 'string of coincidences' ...

I woke up this morning from a dream where I was being chased by dogs. This was so vivid. It may have been on my mind because a few weeks ago the Lord used the following as a warning to direct someone's path, it clearly showed which way the Lord wanted them to turn. He clearly directed them away from a path that I believe would have led to their destruction.

Philippians 3:2
Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh.

This together with that dream prompted me to look up more scripture on dogs. This is what I found:


Isaiah 56:9-12
Come, all you beasts of the field,
... come and devour, all you beasts of the forest!
Israel's watchmen are blind,
... they all lack knowledge;
... they are all mute dogs,
... they cannot bark;
... they lie around and dream,
... they love to sleep.
They are dogs with mighty appetites;
... they never have enough.
... They are shepherds who lack understanding;
... they all turn to their own way,
... each seeks his own gain.
"Come," each one cries, "let me get wine!
... Let us drink our fill of beer!
... And tomorrow will be like today,
... or even far better."


Doesn't this sound like 'prosperity preaching'?

"Tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant."

Wave of the Spirit

Job 39:19
Do you give the horse his strength
       or clothe his neck with a flowing mane (thunder)?

2 Samuel 5:20
'As waters break out, the LORD has broken out against my enemies before me.'

Isaiah 28:16,21 
So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: 
       See, I lay a stone in Zion,
       a tested stone,
       a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;
       the one who trusts will never be dismayed.

The LORD will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim,
       he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon—
       to do his work, his strange work,
       and perform his task, his alien task.

2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

The imagery of the above verses describe the strength and power the goes along with a move or wave of the Holy Spirit. The strength and power of the white 'war horse', and a 'mighty thundering wave of water'. WOW!

David said the above verse (2 Sam 5:20). So that place was called 'Baal Perazim'. David named the place ba'al_peratsiym (in Hebrew). He gave the place a name taken from the Philistine language and culture - calling Jehovah 'Baal Perazim' or 'Lord of the Breakthrough', possessor of the breaches.

What could remain standing after this mighty wave passes?

Only the solid foundation of God -- only those with the seal of the Lord. The verse from 2 Timothy 2:19 goes with the cleansing power of this mighty wave. All that is not of the Lord will be washed away.

Isaiah 28:1-2 
Woe to that wreath, the pride of Ephraim's drunkards,
       to the fading flower, his glorious beauty,
       set on the head of a fertile valley—
       to that city, the pride of those laid low by wine!
See, the Lord has one who is powerful and strong.
       Like a hailstorm and a destructive wind,
       like a driving rain and a flooding downpour,
       he will throw it forcefully to the ground.

Revelation 19:6
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
