Guess what our pastor spoke on yesterday!!
Love As I Have Loved You!

John 15:12-13     My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Alot of this sermon went with 1 John 4:7-21 - the passage that was placed on my heart earlier this week (a coincidence?!).

1 John 4:10 reminded me that God's love doesn't depend on whether we love Him or not. 1 John 4:16 reminded me to rely on God's love to love others - especially others I find hard to love.

This sermon expanded on these ideas. Some points that stick in my mind are - God's love is "Agape" love. Agape love is an act rather than a feeling. It's an act of will. It's also an act of obedience - look at John 15:12 - it's a command!

Some ways to love others with this type of love: by caring for others, by serving others, by forgiving others, by dying for others. (The forgiving part spoke directly to me again.)

What's the result of loving others with this type of love - God's love?
When we love one another with God's love (our acts/ lives), others will be led to the love Christ has for each of them!

Just had to share this - I felt as if the sermon was just for me! Also, I am able to pray for my old priest now and I'm working on forgiving him with God's help. My heart feels like it's soaring! Praise the Lord!

Please put me,my son amd my mom on the prayer list.We are leaving early in the morning for Florida,and you know me,getting out of my normal.Please pray that we will have a safe trip,and a good time,and that we make it safely back home again on Wednesday.I'm planning on God being our pilot and driving us safely to and from.Me and my son will take turns being the co-pilot. Brian's grandmother is slowly dying... So he is up in South Dakota for the weekend to spend time with her and to say goodbyes to her. So I'm home alone with Kali, but thankfully, I have Blaze, my boxer. I am very nervous being home alone, lol.

I'm working on trying to raise $1,000 to purchase an horse that this one man wants to put down just because he has bad knees. It is so sad. I told him I would work on getting the $1,000 this weekend and some of next week- i asked him to give me until next weekend at the most. I just want to save this horse- he is only 8 years old and still can be ridden lightly. Please pray for me that i can raise that much in such a short time. I'm selling my model horses just to raise the money. So far I have $350.00.

God's Love and Ours

1 John 4:7-21     Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 13We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 17In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. 18There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19We love because he first loved us. 20If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

I read this today and found some comforting truths. One of the reasons I think I was led to read this today is because recently God placed on my heart to pray for someone who is difficult(impossible?) for me to love.

Notice that God's love doesn't depend on whether we love Him or not.

I think we are called to do likewise- love even if we are not loved in return - or God is not loved.

This is a very difficult teaching. I'm not very good at this.

How are we to do this? Look at vs 16 - it is key. We need to rely on God's love thru us to do this. I am really not good at this. It does help to know that His love lives in me already - I don't have to somehow come up with it - I need to rely on it - it's already there and it's perfect/ unconditional. This is comforting to me because I'm far from perfect.

Please pray for Dad. He went to Fl. alone and needs assistance aids. Meals on wheels.....Pray that His dr. get this done soon and referrals be sent there to the right place... Theres more and I trust in the Lord and know that this will prevail too

Also I have to go in next week to have a biospy done on a breast lump. I know this is only just a fiberisitic tumor as usuall. Lets just pray anyway and agree and it shall be done and I'm healed in Jesus's precious name!!!!!!!

Pray for a friends husbands job, that him and his friend can join together with this new job the Lord has for her husband. That this will prevail and God will get the Glory for opening this job for her husband. Thank you

Following Hard
from "More Precious Than Silver" by Joni Eareckson

“My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.”Psalm 63:8 (KJV)

You follow Christ, but do you follow hard after him? Another translation says, “My soul follows close behind you.” The soul that follows hard on the heels of God is childlike. I know that from experience. My parents were hikers who took us often on backpacking trips — as the youngest, I learned that if I didn’t keep up, if I didn’t stick on the heels of my older sisters, I’d get lost in the woods (or so I thought).

We need to be sort of followers who are constantly bumping into God’s back. We need a healthy dose of fear that, without him, we’d be lost (and we would!). Don’t fall behind. Don’t think you can find your way. Don’t run ahead and don’t detour around. Just stay close behind the Lord where the trail is fresh. Psalm 16:11 says, “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

And how does our heavenly Father feel about us tagging along so closely? Delighted. Nothing could please him more than when we, his children, desire to stay close. Psalm 139:3 in The Living Bible says, “You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest. Every moment you know where I am.”

What do you think it means to “step on God’s heels?” To pump your thinking, read Proverbs 3:5-6. Did you catch that phrase “In all your ways acknowledge him...”? To “acknowledge” means to follow hard after God: being instant in obedience, absolute in your trust, immediate in your prayers, and quick in your response to the Spirit’s proddings.

Would to God that we all would keep stepping on the heels of the Lord Jesus. Make it your goal today to follow hard after him. “The steps of a man are established by the Lord... When he falls, he shall not be hurled headlong; because the Lord is the One who holds his hand” (Psalm 37:23-24).

I just love that song "Where You Lead Me" in my previous post. That idea of my soul following hard after Jesus just stuck in my mind. Then I read the above devotion. Look at Psalm 63:8 - following hard is followed by being upheld by the Lord's right hand!

This is comforting - the Lord can lead & uphold us thru anything if we just 'follow hard' & stay close to Him!

Limits to Faith?

Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ (Romans 10:17).

When people struggle with their faith in God, it's not because their faith-object is insufficient. It's because people have unreal expectations of God. They expect Him to operate a certain way or answer prayer a certain way--their way, not His--and when He doesn't comply they say, "Forget You, God." But God doesn't change; He's the perfect faith-object. Faith in God only fails when people hold a faulty understanding of Him.

If you want your faith in God to increase, you must increase your understanding of Him as the object of your faith. If you have little knowledge about God and His Word, you will have little faith. If you have great knowledge of God and His Word, you will have great faith. Faith cannot be pumped up by coaxing yourself, "If only I can believe! If only I can believe!" Any attempt to push yourself beyond what you know about God and his ways is to move from faith to presumption. You choose to believe God according to what you already know to be true from His Word. And the only way to increase your faith is to increase your knowledge of God, your faith-object (Romans 10:17).

"Well," you may say, "that means there's a limit to our faith." Yes, there's a limit. But God isn't controlling it; you are. As the object of your faith, He is infinite. The only limit to your faith is your knowledge and understanding of God, which grows every time you read your Bible, memorize a new Scripture verse, participate in a Bible study, or meditate on a scriptural truth. Can you see the practical, tangible potential for your faith to grow as you endeavor to know God through His Word? It's boundless!

Furthermore, it is important to know that God is under no obligation to us. There is no way you can cleverly word a prayer so that God must act on your behalf. If God declares something to be true, you simply believe Him and live according to what is true. If God didn't say it, no amount of faith in the world will make it so. Believing doesn't make God's Word true; His Word is true, therefore I believe it.

2 Peter 3:18     But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

How God Answers Prayer

My boyfriend and I are trying to buy house, and apparently there is another person before us that might sign the contract. If this other person doesn't go through with signing the contract, then we will be able to buy this house. I have been praying for this house. Please help in prayer to ask God that if this house is meant for us to make a way that we are able to buy it. We have to wait until the end of the day to see if the other person does go ahead and decide to want to buy the house. I know that this house is meant for us. I have declared that if the house is meant for us, for God to let it be so.

Bill S. is in the hospital. He had passed out. They have diagnosed him with a blood clot in the lung. He is being transferred to where his doctor practices. His condition is serious, but stable at this time.

Alvin just returned from his 3rd trip to his urologist. The stone has not moved; if, in fact what they are seeing is the stone. So, he has to go for a "dye test" to be sure his kidney is working. He knows it was blocked early on and had an infection. So now this is getting really serious-of course, it hasn't been fun and games for him anyway. Please pray that his kidney is fine and that the stone is just gone.

Are you troubled because the goals you want to reach always seem to elude you? Do you sometimes wonder how the path you are walking can be God's way, when you seem to be going only in circles and one obstacle after another blocks your progress? If you have placed your life in God's hands, trust Him completely.

The strange, roundabout march of Joshua illustrates that God sometimes accomplishes His purposes in mysterious ways. He may not lead us in obvious paths when He intends to show His power.

Scottish pastor and author George Matheson (1842-1906) wrote, "There are times when I get work to do, the good of which I cannot see. Sometimes . . . there is put into my hands a trumpet when I think it should be a sword. Sometimes I am sent on a long circuitous march when I am expecting to be retained for the assault. These moments are very hard for me. . . . Help me at such moments, O Lord, to say, 'One step enough for me'!"

We are not to ask, "Why the long march when we could be fighting the battle?" "Why the noisy trumpet?" It is enough to know that God is leading. Although we cannot always see the promised land, yet we may trust the guidance of the promised Hand. --Henry G. Bosch

What Is Your House Built On?

The Wise and Foolish Builders

Luke 6:46-49     "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? 47I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. 48He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."

Psychologists chart "stress factors" related to various kinds of emotional trauma and the response of different people to those factors--death, divorce, job loss, illness, and such which threaten the very foundations of people's lives. What can hold us at such times?

In a simple story Jesus showed the secret of stability. One man comes to Jesus, hears Him, and acts on what he hears. He is like the man who builds a house on solid rock. Another man hears (is exposed to the same truth, given equal opportunity) but does not act (does not choose to act) on the word he hears. Jesus said he is building a house on sand. When floods come, the river bursts upon it (Lk 6:49 NEB), the house collapses and falls with a great crash.

What sort of floods was He talking about? What rivers might be likely to burst over a man's house? Surely He meant the stresses of life, not terribly different from the stresses we experience, anything that shakes the foundations. It is at such times that we become aware of what those foundations are. Have we laid them on the Rock that never moves, or have we, merely by not obeying the word we have heard, been laying them on sand? That sand is the self--shifty,unstable, carried back and forth by conflicting currents (popular opinions, for example?), utterly undependable and incapable of holding up under pressure.

Grace does make a difference doesn't it? Not just in music, but in every area of life.

In Joshua 6, the city of Jericho was conquered by Israel and, because of their evil deeds, its citizens were put to death. But one woman was spared. Her name was Rahab. Despite being a prostitute, Rahab had shown faith in God by hiding two Israeli spies who came to her city. This simple act of faith preserved her life. Verse 25 says that, "Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father's household, and all that she had."

Rahab knew God's grace first hand. Do you? You can, you know. Check out this story for yourself. Read:     Joshua 6. No matter what you've done you can experience God's grace today--God says so, in His Word.

I heard this song & scripture yesterday. It again goes with things we've been pondering here. How do we do God's work? How do we abide in Christ? Fix your eyes on Jesus (the author and perfecter of our faith), look for His direction, accept Him into your heart. Still whatever God accomplishes thru us isn't really our doing, it's thru His grace. It really drives home to me again that He is faithful and He will do it beacause of His grace and love for us. I just need to listen & obey and wonder at His grace, His surprising grace - it still amazes me!

Praise!:Paul
On Friday Paul was offered the Superintendent position that is closer to home. He had applied and interviewed for this over a month ago. We know first hand that the glory really goes to God for this to have worked out as quickly as it did. Paul has been extremely disillusioned with work and depressed and was at one of the lowest points in his life in a number of years. God came through. Although the salary remains the same, Paul will only have to drive 22km to work which would take maybe 15 minutes twice a day.

I am really exhausted and so confused right now about my life and ask for prayer. I feel beaten up, unhappy and emotionally exhausted. I am just doing too much and am beginning to prioritize my life which is good but I really ask my heart and mind would be in tune with the Lord, At this moment I am feeling empty and vacant and so need God's touch - to feel it deep in my soul.

Thanks...I know God hears our prayers and I have had quite a few trials these past months emotionally, physically and financially. Ever since I committed to begin this prayer ministry for my church, I have had so many arrows thrown at me, I feel as if I am in an emotional upheaval and yes, I feel weak!

With hearts that are grateful to God we welcome the safe arrival of Evelyn Rose this morning (5/17) at 3:31 a.m. Mommy and Daddy (Rebecca and David) are just fine and rejoicing in their new baby daughter. Evie weighed 7 lbs. 9 ozs. and was 20 3/4 inches. She joins big sisters, Brett Elizabeth and Cadie Anne. Thank you all for your prayers! We appreciate all of them!

I just found out an 11 year old boy committed sucide by shooting himself last week and his 10 year old friend Eric is taking it very hard, the good news is he is talking and asking questions and his family is VERY supportive and their faith is strong, Could we also pray for Eric and his friends family for all of them to be able to get through this difficult and confusing time?

Drink-Don't Faint

Psalm 46:4-7 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. 5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. 6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. 7 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

God is our Refuge, so we need not fear. But He is also our River, so we need not faint. "There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High" (v. 4).

Until I visited the Holy Land, I had no idea how critical water is there. Without water almost nothing can exist there. Jerusalem is one of the great ancient cities that was not founded on a river. It wasn't until Hezekiah dug his famous tunnel that Jerusalem had a water source within the city walls. The psalmist says here that though Jerusalem is not situated beside a river, it has a River. And it comes from the Holy Place, from the throne of God. "God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn" (v. 5).

Our Lord said, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink" John 7:37). The rivers of Living Water, the rivers of joy, flow out from His throne. In the Bible, water for washing is a picture of the Word of God. But water for drinking is a picture of the Spirit of God. We may drink from this hidden River. And because we drink at this River, we have the joy, the refreshment and the empowerment of the Lord.

The psalmist continues, "The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge" (v. 7). He is the Lord of the armies. All the armies of heaven and earth belong to the Lord Jesus Christ because He has all authority. He is with us, not against us. He is Immanuel, "God with us."

Take time to drink at the River. Let God refresh you and restore you and strengthen you for the day.

Hidden resources are as critical to spiritual well-being as they are to physical well-being. If you want to work and not faint, you must depend on God's provisions. His people have the Holy Spirit within them to refresh and strengthen them. When you drink from the rivers of water He provides, you find strength and the joy of the Lord.

Please pray for Brian & Tammy. Brian went back to work this morning after being off six weeks for hernia surgery and they terminated his employment. (Doesn't sound fair to me!) Tammy only has two weeks left on her job with the school. So we need to pray that Brian can find a job quickly(preferably in this area) and that they can locate a house to rent reasonably. Direction, guidance, encouragment.

Psalm 46:1-3     God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

This sounds like a 'big' storm. How are we to get thru it? Psalm 46 gives us some clues.

Psalm 46:7     The LORD Almighty is with us;

First remember the Lord is with us and will never leave us.
Psalm 9:10     Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD , have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 46 then goes on:

Psalm 46:10     Be still, and know that I am God

Just try to be still - and trust God no matter what. Let Him carry you thru.

An article in National Geographic several years ago provided a penetrating picture of God's wings. After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park, forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree.

Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. When the blaze had arrived and the heat had singed her small body, the mother had remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to die, those under the cover of her wings would live.

The Bible often refers to God protecting us, and sometimes uses this illustration of a bird protecting her young.

Psalm 91:4     He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

Jesus like the mother bird was also willing to die to protect each of us. Because He died - we can have His protection, because He died - we can live - we can choose eternal life.

Jeremiah 29:11-13     For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

We live in a world that sometimes seems void of hope. Wars, famine, pollution, recessions, etc. can cause us to become easily discouraged when we look at the prospects of our future. Discouragement can lead to depression, and depression can lead to hopelessness.

When we are feeling hopeless, we see our circumstances and surroundings through a filtered lens that can cause us to continue to spiral downwards in our emotions and our attitudes. In this week’s devotional scripture, God says that He has a plan for you, a plan that will prosper you and not to harm you, a plan that will give you hope and a future.

While the economy may be saying one thing to us, God is saying another. While your circumstances may cry out hopelessness, God is saying that He has a plan to prosper and not to harm you. While we don’t know what the future does hold, we know who holds the future. We can trust in the goodness of God to care for us in the midst of situations that seem hopeless.

Our hope is not in our circumstances, but in God our Father. That does not necessarily mean that life will always turn out the way we expected, but it does mean that we can always trust in our Father to love us and watch over us. If we commit our lives into His care, we are guaranteed from an everlasting perspective, that we will have an incredible future filled with hope awaiting us, that will last forever.

My friend Dolores just lost her brother, Charles. He had surgery and had a tumor removed and part of his intestine. He was doing fine and suddenly died. He had internal bleeding of which his doctors were unaware. She will be going to England for the funeral. Please pray for her and her family at this time of great loss and that Dolores and Tom have a safe journey to and from England.

Luke 24:32     They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?

Nothing takes the wind out of our sails like discouragement. We get an idea in our heads, come up with some plans and take steps toward seeing a dream become a reality. Then, just when it starts to look good, something goes wrong. The more our hearts are in it, the more it hurts. And then discouragement sets in, leaving our minds in turmoil as we try to sort out things.

Try to imagine being a disciple, convinced that Jesus was a prophet, that He was one whose words and deeds were powerful before God and man. Add to that a hope He would redeem Israel. The wind is starting to fill the sail! Then He died. The seeming finality that death brings hits hard.

Confusion is added to the mix as some talk about angels they had seen and a body that is missing. No wonder these two disciples, when approached by Jesus, "stood still, their faces downcast" (v. 17). When the heart hurts, the head hangs, and theirs did.

Notice what Jesus did for them. He talked to them about the Bible, opening to their understanding the writings of Moses and the prophets, the Scriptures concerning Himself. As they listened, their hearts burned within them. The Word, spoken by the unrecognized resurrected Lord, rekindled the flame within their hearts.

When your heart is heavy, look to the Word of God. Don't just read it. Learn it and live it. As God's Word becomes fire in your heart your life will change.

In times of discouragement where do you turn? Get into the Word. Find in it the encouragement you need that will heal your hurting heart.

Our Glennie is home and he is healed. He left us at 5:00 PM today, May 6, 2004 in his 18th month on earth. He was tired and we could see that he was tired as he struggled to breath this past week. I want to express how thankful I am that God selected our family, Glenn and Amanda to share in "the fellowship of His sufferings", and like Christ, to "learn obedience from the things which you suffer". Our life with Glennie was glorious, filled with hope, love, laughter, plenty of laughter, and the incredible dimension of thanking God for His plan in Glennie's life. We had an opportunity to share Glennie with you and we thank you for all of the prayers that you have given our family. We miss him but we know that he is able to run and move his limbs and he is in the arms of Jesus. Fondly, Glennie's Family

Please pray that God's love and peace would enfold Glennie's family during this time.

"You may not know me, but I know everything about you."

Psalm 139:1     O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.

God knows you. Even if you don't know him, he knows everything about you. He knows how you were made, why you were made, and why you do the things you do. He created you and fashioned you in His extravagant love for His eternal purposes. If a car mechanic can recite in great detail, the purpose of every part in a re-built engine, how much more is the Creator of the heavens and the earth able to recite every characteristic of His beloved children.

He knows every bump, every bruise, and every failure. He knows every fear, every inadequacy, and every one of our dreams. He knows us through and through, yet He still loves us unconditionally. The thought of such intimacy with God causes many of us to cringe in fear. How could God know me as I really am, yet still love me? Shame caused Adam and Eve to run from the presence of their all knowing, all seeing Father. But God does not want us to run from Him, but rather run to Him.

Even when we do hide, we can't escape His loving gaze. Yes our Father knows us intimately and He loves us with an everlasting love. His love for us is higher, and deeper and wider than any other love we have ever experienced in our entire lives. The love that we are familiar with is usually conditional and based upon performance. But thanks be to God, that Father's love is not an earthly love, it is divine in nature and not based upon our own sense of personal goodness, but rather on His goodness and mercy. Yes your Father knows you, and He loves you with all His heart.

I got this by email. I'm not sure who wrote it.

Malachi 3:3     He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up.

He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it."

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has His eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you. And, whatever you're going through, you'll be a better person in the end.

2 Cor 3:18     And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever­increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Matthew 10     Numbered Hairs
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Jesus says that His Father has taken the time to count each one of the hairs on our head! While we may be pre-occupied by the color of our hair or how many are falling out on a daily basis, Father focuses in on each strand. What incredible attention to detail!

It is amazing to think that such insignificance in our eyes seems so important to God. God is so big that He scoops the oceans in the palm of His hand, and yet He is so small that He can number each hair on our head. Even the falling of an insignificant sparrow requires His attention. Jesus encourages us that if our Father is intimately involved in the falling of one sparrow, how much more is He involved in our everyday lives!

We don’t have to be afraid, for our Father is watching over us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He really, really loves us and is involved in the smallest details of our lives. If there are days that you feel alone, when you think that no one is really attending to your needs, remember this scripture passage. He has taken the time to count each hair on your head, not because He is bored or has nothing else to do, but to simply demonstrate your great worth in His sight.

His call to you is not to be afraid. He is in control of all that goes on in your life and since He cares for the sparrows, He will certainly care for you.

Todd was called at work today to quickly come to the hospital. His dad is critically ill. Todd looked real shock up. Pray for peace, healing and a witness to be with the family.

When my children were little they enjoyed eating lunch outside on the picnic table during the summer months. One day a little sparrow flew over them and landed on the grass nearby. They offered the bird some crusts of bread, and from that day forward they became good friends. Whenever the kids went outside, within a short time, the sparrow would show up. We marveled at the mystery of this tiny creature, and it brought joy to all of us for the remainder of the summer and into the fall.

That same fall, I found myself lying in a hospital suffering with a life threatening illness. I worried about my family, especially my children, asking God to help us through this difficult time. During my hospital stay, every morning I would wake up and see a tiny sparrow sitting on the ledge outside my window. Was it the same sparrow? I'll never know. What I do know is this small creature, created by God, helped me through a troublesome time. I could not possibly be discouraged, because if my heavenly Father watches over each little sparrow, then I know He will watch over me.

The lyrics to "His Eye is on the Sparrow" have brought peace and comfort to me throughout my life, and I would like to share them with you.

Micah 6:8     He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

What is God's work? What do you have to do to do God's work?

Jesus was asked this same question "What must we do to do the work that God requires?" He gave this reply:
John 6:28-29     The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.

The word believe in this verse is translated in the original Greek to mean: to trust, to rely upon, to cleave to. It is the idea of putting faith in another outside of ourselves. It means trusting another's strength and ability and not our own. Jesus is talking about having a simple child-like trust in Him. It is this same trust that Jesus calls us to when He says

Matthew 11:28     Come unto me all ye who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.

True trust always results in rest, for the burden is no longer on you, but on God. The work of God is not meant to be performed in our own strength.

Instead, our works are to be the fruit of a life of abiding in Christ. This is the work that will have lasting results and keep us in close relationship with Him and in love with Him.

John 15:4-5     Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Glenda C. has requested prayer regarding custody of some of her grandchildren. A court decision will be made Wednesday by Judge Duncan regarding custody and Glenda is asking God to give Judge Duncan wisdom in his decision. Cathy B.'s grandson, the one that was born recently and they thought he was 25 weeks and he actually was 33 weeks, anyway, he now has bleeding into his brain. He needs our prayers.
