Psalm 119:162     I rejoice at Your word, as one who finds great treasure.

Jer 15:16     When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty.

The secret of Christian joy is to believe what God says in His Word and act upon it. Faith that isn’t based on the Word is not faith at all; it is presumption or superstition. Joy that isn’t the result of faith is not joy at all; it is only a “good feeling” that will soon disappear. Faith based on the Word will produce joy that will weather the storms of life.

Isaiah 40:8     The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.

There are great treasures buried in God’s Word, “dig” for them as we read, meditate, and pray. When we find these treasures, our hearts are touched with joy. This joy naturally leads to worship.

John 4:24     God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.
John 17:17     Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

What better way to worship the Lord than thru His Word? Rejoice in His Word!!!

Praise!: My sister Crystal didn't have to have a biopsy there was 3 knots and they did the ultrasound again and that woman that did it said she was 98% sure they wasn't cancer .They want her to come back in 4 months to get checked again.I just Praise God she don't have cancer.I know God took care of it and she know God took care of it too.She said God worked it all out.

I would like you/your ministry to be praying for me. I am 59 years old, now suffering from long time cancer of the breast and partial stroke. From all indications, my condition is really deteriorating and is quite obvious that I may not live more than six months, because the cancer stage has gotten to a very severe stage. Please pray I get my life in order.

Please pray for my step father Ed and for my Mother. Ed has to go to a specialist about his kidney and also about his lungs. He may need an operation for his lung. He goes on the 9th of Aug. for his kidney so we will see after that.

My prayer is that both Ed and Mom will feel safe and secure and that as they encounter many of the roads they are travelling on with Ed's health, they will feel the peace of the Lord and that the warmth of his love will just cloak them...

Hi there....well, the offer to buy the house we had been praying for, fell through. I thank the Lord for this because the offer on our house also has problems. Please keep us in prayer. My head and heart say God will work this through and I praise and thank him for our offer to purchase another house fell through - we would have been in a real mess then but I just don't understand why the blocks are still in place so we can't get our finances back on track. Yes, I am disappointed, afraid, worried and so very tired.

Those two simple words mean a great deal.

Could we pray for this family:

Kenny: He has lived with his grandmother most of his life, his mother came and got him to stay with her but ended up taking all he owned and stranded him in another state with nothing but the clothes on his back, he is back with his grandmother Sharon but he is deeply scarred by this, he is a good kid and his grandma is awesome please pray for God to heal him so this doesn't lead him in the wrong direction.

Bob: Sharon's Husband has congestive heart failure, and also had to lose a leg and is having trouble healing

Porsche: Is Sharon's Granddaughter who is severly disabled, can we please pray to let her have continued stable/good health.

Sharon: Most of all for Sharon she cares for her 2 grandchildren and her husband and is the sweetest person but needs prayer for continued strength and guidance in the direction to go with everyone and that also she will have a few moments for herself.

The Ripple Effect II
From A Coffee Break with God

Matthew 13:32     Which [the mustard seed] indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

Not everyone who commits his life to Jesus Christ will be called to be world famous. The majority of us are called to fulfill less noticeable roles in our churches, communities, and families. Yet only God may know how significant our roles are to the future of thousands - even millions.

A century and a half ago, a humble minister lived and died in a small village in Leicestershire, England. He lived there his entire life and never traveled far from home. He never attended college, had no formal degrees, but was a faithful village minister.

In his congregation was a young cobbler to whom he gave special attention, teaching him the Word of God. This young man was William Carey, later hailed as one of the greatest missionaries of modern times.

The village minister also had a son - a boy whom he taught faithfully and constantly encouraged. The boy's character and talents were profoundly impacted by his father's life. That son grew up to be a man many considered the mightiest public orator of his day, Robert Hall. Widely admired for his saintly character, his preaching was powerful and his sermons influenced the decisions of statesmen.

It seems the village pastor accomplished little in his life as a preacher. There were no spectacular revivals, great miracles, or major church growth. But his faithful witness and godly life had much to do with giving India its Carey, and England its Robert Hall.

When you think you are having no impact in the world by teaching a Sunday school class or visiting those who are homebound, remember the little country preacher who influenced two nations for the Lord.

Sandy's son, Danny, has been in the hospital for about three weeks. He has had a stroke and is not doing well. It is very difficult for Sandy not to be able to stay there with him, though she knows there is very little she can do for him. Let's pray for a quick recovery for Danny, (who must be no older than his 30s) that the Holy Spirit will take control of the whole situation and give peace to Sandy's aching heart. God's best blessings to you all for your compassion and desire to help others through prayer!

Update on Linda & Paul. Someone else is interested in the house we like. We are still waiting to hear on this. Our finances look good for this house.

...tomorrow between 9 & 1 we have a home inspection taking place here at the house we own by those who have the offer in the home... Please keep this process in prayer.

....I know all things work out to the Glory of God...he has carried me so far....I'm tired and have lots on my plate and again, I thank the Lord for you and for praying for me continuously.

The Ripple Effect

In 1855, A Sunday School teacher, a Mr. Kimball, led a Boston shoe clerk to give his life to Christ. The clerk, Dwight L. Moody, became an evangelist.

In England in 1879, Dwight L. Moody awakened evangelistic zeal in the heart of Fredrick B. Meyer, pastor of a small church.

F.B. Meyer, preaching to an American college campus, brought to Christ a student named J. Wilbur Chapman.

J. Wilbur Chapman, engaged in YMCA work, employed a former baseball player, Billy Sunday, to do evangelistic work.

Bill Sunday held a revival in Charlotte, N.C. A group of local men were so enthusiastic afterward that they planned another evangelistic campaign, bringing Mordecai Hamm to town to preach.

During Mordecai Hamm's revival, a young man named Billy Graham heard the Gospel and yielded his life to Christ.

Only Eternity will reveal the tremendous impact of that one Sunday School teacher, Mr. Kimball, who invested his life in the lives of others.

Makes you think, doesn't it? Everything we do in the name of Jesus Christ has an effect which will be viewed through Eternity.

Eph 3:20-21     Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Praise!:Paul and I accepted an offer on our house last night and the closing date is September 30th. Paul & I also had a long heart to heart about how all this stress has been affecting us. We worked thru alot of this - right before 3 offers came in!

God did this! I know in all my heart and with every breath I have in me, that God is the one who did all the work.

I want to thank you for your prayers. I needed them. I will always need them. Your prayers lifted me when I was down and guided me to God's arms. He is awesome. He is my Lord and I am so thankful that God created desires in your hearts to pray for those who need to be uplifted.

We are now in the process of house hunting. We have found a house that we like and are in the process of getting financing. Please keep this in prayer. We have to find a place to live by September 30th as this is the closing date on the house....

Thank you for your continued prayers.....with your prayers I know I keep my focus on God and I truly need him every day and every step of my life.

Linda, Joe, Joey, Jarred, Billy and Nicky all need our prayers. Linda & family are getting overwhelmed with Billy's negative behavior. He has had supervised visits with his other Grandmother. And, when he comes home he is out of control. Please ask Jesus to help Linda and her family to cope with these 2 little boys, to give them the emotional and spiritual strenghth that they need to do what is necessary for the boys.

Beneath the Surface

Psalm 42:7     Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.

When the weather turns warm, I think back to summertime days spent in the sand dunes near Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The powerful waves’ deafening noise thrilled yet frightened me. But when I swam far out beyond the breakers, I was amazed at how subdued the waves seemed. Then, when I dove beneath the surface, the underwater acoustics made the thunderous roar sound distant and gentle. These remembrances came vividly to mind the other day when I read a poem by Frances Havergal.

On the surface foam and roar,
Restless heave and passionate dash,
Shingle rattle on the shore,
Gathering boom and thundering crash.
Under the surface, soft green light,
A hush of peace and an endless calm,
Winds and waves from a choral height,
Falling sweet as a far off psalm.

She’s right. Although a majestic and powerful beauty rests on the ocean’s surface, you find more beauty when you dive beneath the waves. A world of luxuriant seaweed swaying gracefully, of colorful shells, and of small fish darting here and there awaits you.

Just as with the ocean, when you dive beneath the surface things with God, you discover an endless calm. A world of divine life that is deep and quiet. God reveals a gentle interior beauty. (The Lord is so generous — even when we choose only to live on the surface of things, God still reveals himself. But there’s much more to him then what you see on the surface). So, dive deep into His heart. All the turmoil of your daily life, all the problems that crash around you like huge waves will seem somehow distant.

Now I’ll let my seashore friend, Frances Havergal, take you for that deeper dive. Look beneath the surface.

For Such A Time As This

Esther 4:14     What's more, who can say but that you have come to your position for such a time as this?

Consider Queen Esther. God led and enabled her to carry out His will in an amazing way. A book of the Bible is named after her. Did you know God used a beauty contest to accomplish a great deliverance for His people? God's people were ruled by a foreign king. As this king searched for a queen, a beauty contest was held. The winner would be the new queen. Esther was very beautiful and the king chose her as his queen. She was also one of God's people, the Jews. She might have "lived happily ever after," but becoming a queen meant serving God in a way she could have never imagined.

One of the king's powerful helpers hated the Jews and made a plan to kill them all. It almost worked. It became Esther's job to reveal the wicked plan to the king and beg him to stop it from happening. Queen Esther's uncle knew that if anyone could influence the king, she could. He reminded her "for such a time as this" God had made her queen. No one else could persuade the king to protect God's people instead of destroying them but her. The king listened to Esther. God's people were spared. Today, Jews still celebrate how God used Esther to deliver them from their enemies in the feast of Purim.

What does this ancient story have to do with me, you may ask? Even if you're not a queen, a beauty contestant, or a part of the Jewish people, like Esther you do have a role to play in carrying out God's good plans. Like Esther, He has appointed you to do work for Him that He has assigned to no one else. You live in a particular place, with particular people, at a particular time in history. No one is quite like you with the same gifts and abilities or the same opportunities. Esther used her unique opportunity to help her people and God was honored by her effort.

Spinning Out of Control?

1 Samuel 15:23     For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has rejected you as king.

It's been said that whenever a jet goes out of control and begins to spin, the only thing to do is totally take your hands off the controls and the plane will right itself. This goes against our natural inclination to control and manipulate in order to bring things back under control. It is scary to be out of control. Or is it?

Saul was a man out of control. He was losing control of his kingdom to David. He was losing the favor of God and the people. It began as compromises. Eventually he was given a final test to obey the voice of God fully. He was instructed to kill the Amalekites completely; but he failed to follow through. The prophet Samuel delivered a hard word to King Saul, "Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has rejected you as king" (see 1 Sam. 15:26). Saul obeyed partially, but not fully. It was partial obedience that led to his removal as king of Israel and his calling from God. But why did Saul do such a thing? "I was afraid of the people and so I gave in to them" (1 Sam. 15:24b). Saul's fear and insecurity made him more afraid of the people and what they thought than of God. At the core of Saul's disobedience was fear of losing control. That fear of losing control led to partial obedience and the loss of his reign as king.

How many of us are in danger of losing God's blessing due to partial obedience? How many of us have such a need to control people and circumstances that we fail to fully walk in obedience to God's voice in our lives? Saul provides a great lesson for us as businesspeople. The need to overcontrol things around us can prevent us from receiving all that God has for us. Today, take an inventory of your control quotient. Ask God if you are being fully obedient to what He has called you to do this day.

Remember that story of the lady with sticky notes who would pray for people? Well since I joined this prayer group and starting offering to send in prayer requests for people, I have people ask me to pray for their family and friends and even get emails with prayer requests..... that story was really right and prayer really does touch people.

Face the Wind

Job 30:22     Thou liftest me up on the wind, thou makest me ride on it.

One Saturday afternoon, in 1939, I think, we teenagers looked for something to do. A couple of us hadn't seen an airplane up close, so we hiked to McPherson Airport at the edge of our town. Just then a pilot wearing a leather jacket, jodhpurs and boots up to his knees came out. He was strapping on a brown, skull-fitting helmet with goggles.

As usual, in Kansas, the strong south wind was whipping through the wheat fields, and we wondered whether the mosquito-like craft could actually take off. If the pilot turned his plane's tail to the wind, we reasoned, the gust from behind would help push it into the air. Instead, he headed forward, straight into the wind!

We craned our necks as the plane climbed, banked over tall grain elevators, then circled back to land. We were still hanging over the fence ogling, when the pilot walked over to us.

"Why didn't you use a tail wind when you took off?" my friend asked.

"If I let the wind come from behind," he explained, "I could end up in a ditch. Same with going crosswind, which could cause a wing tip to hit the ground. Just remember, the only way to make a plane behave is to head it straight into the wind."

That's a useful lesson for life, too. If the wind is trouble, face it. If it's happiness, soar.

We need prayers for Jason H. who is 11 years old, his friends and him were playing in an alley and found a gun they thought was a toy, when they realised it was real a friend dropped the gun on the ground and it went off and hit Jason, he is now paralysed from chest down... he will start therapy as soon as he is able, he did make it through the surgery which is good... we need prayers for strength for him and family and for Jesus healing touch.

I am writing to ask you to pray that the Lord will forgive me. You see, we are selling our house and it's been on the market since July 5th. Prior to us putting the house on sale, I had prayed with many others for the house to sell. Since it went on the market, the house did receive an offer that fell through and we heard from another agent that he had clients who were interested but were 'waffling'. I've been very nervous, angry and really believed that since it went to prayer with others, that it would be smooth sailing and that the Lord would just make it happen. As it hasn't happened yet, I thought God just wasn't working fast enough for me. I owe God a very big apology and ask that the Lord please forgive my arrogance, my unjust anger and frustration, my lack of faith and trust in him in knowing that he will work all things through to his glory. I sinned against God and misused my prayers and those with whom I requested prayer. I misused these words Matthew 7 vs's: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. 9"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets" and Matthew 18 vs's: 19"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

You see, though I know in my heart of hearts that these verses are so true, what I was convicted of this morning was my heart and my attitude is what was wrong and I sinned in my heart by trying to manipulate the Lord to do what I wanted, not what he wanted. So, I confess to the Lord my sin and ask each of you to forgive me too for using you to pray for me. I was wrong and am so very sorry.

I believe and know the house will sell and I believe God will make it happen. My husband and I created a mess with our finances and are in trouble...we have lived beyond our means. Selling the house and paying off the debt is the right thing to do. Once again, because we placed ourselves in this financial bondage, we would make enough money to pay off the debt and start afresh. Lord willing, this will happen and yes, I pray it happens sooner than later...the stress and worry is unbelievable.

Thank you for your prayers and I sincerely pray for your forgiveness.

My Aunt Helen, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is going in for an operation on August 12th for a full mastectomy. Please lift her in prayer.

Pray if it is God's will that the cancer be healed, then I pray that the Lord will cure her of this breast cancer. I also pray that the Lord will provide the necessary $$ so that I can go to Winnipeg and stay with her a few weeks while she recuperates. Please pray that Aunt Helen be at peace during this time too. And I would also like to thank the Lord for her as she is simply a wonderful, beautiful person.

Praise you for this and both my husband and I thank you for your prayers. We love the Lord and Aunt Helen is a gift - a very precious person whom we love tremendously.

My very best friend C came over today and broke down crying telling me she has been using drugs (crack) this is way out of her character and she is feeling awful, the good news is God is waking her up to this problem early on, (she didn't get in her car and drive during her high this AM and walked to a church and talked to a pastor who is bringing her to a meeting tomorrow night the pastor himself is going with her for support!) Could we please pray for her and her family/friends to help her through this and for God to reach down and grab her out of this mess before she gets to deep in it. She was afraid to come to me today and her family thank goodness she is telling us.

God's Eyes

Behold, you are beautiful, my love; behold, you are beautiful. . . .

Visiting our grandson’s school for the first time, I was startled to discover that his second-grade teacher had a disfiguring birthmark covering nearly half her face. A dark purple discoloration spread from her left ear across her cheek and lower lip to her jaw line.

Warm and welcoming, the woman herself had obviously come to terms long since with the burden of an unusual appearance. It was I who felt awkward, conscious of the effort neither to look away nor to stare. If it was hard for me as an adult, how, I wondered, did our seven-year-old grandchild handle it?

I found out when he got home from school that afternoon. "Your teacher seems like a very nice lady," I ventured.

The youngster nodded. "She doesn’t look like other teachers," he said.

I nodded, waiting to hear how he would handle the situation.

"Yes," he went on, "even when we’re noisy, she has a smiley face."

It was said in a child’s piping voice, but the message I heard was God’s. I don’t look at your blemishes either, I heard Him say. I look at you with the eyes of love.

Fragrance

Do you like sweet smelling flowers? There are many kinds of lovely flowers in the world: roses, violets, lilies, orchids, marigolds, carnations ... . While they all look beautiful in bouquets, they do not all smell good. As a matter of fact, some are offensive! Orchids are lovely but have very little fragrance. Marigolds are also beautiful, but are repugnant. Even to insects!!! But look at the tiny violets. Small as they may be, they have a very sweet fragrance.

Many places in the Bible talk about pleasing fragrances.

John 12:3     Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

Ephesians 5:1-2     Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Philippians 4:18     I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

2 Corinthians 2:14-15     But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

Were you aware that each of us has a fragrance to God? What kind of fragrance do you emit to God? Is it pleasing? Or does it just have the appearance of being pleasant? Is God pleased with our attitudes, our deeds, and our faith in Him? How are we in God's sight? Do we have the sweet and pleasant aroma of a violet? Or are we like the orchid, beautiful but very little fragrance? Or are we the marigold, beautiful but repugnant?

Let us all resolve in our hearts to be more like the violet, tiny but fragrant and not a marigold, which only has the appearance of fragrance.

A Bouquet Of Dandelions

Now that spring has finally sprung here in southern Ontario, Canada, our family is spending more time outdoors. Sometimes we are working in the garden, playing in the backyard, or just going for a stroll. Invariably, whenever outdoors, I am presented with a bouquet of dandelions by one of my two children.

To them, dandelions are flowers. They don't see them as noxious weeds, marring immaculate green lawns. Their cheery yellow colour is a symbol of love.

Like the dandelions, we may be less than perfect in the eyes of others. We may be seen as too loud or too timid, too easygoing or too serious, too old or too young. Yet, in God's eyes, through Christ, we are perfect. He knows our very hearts, and loves us for who we are. In an entire field of dandelions, we are unique, and He made us so.

Ephphatha! Be Opened!

Mark 7:34     He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, "Ephphatha!" (which means, "Be opened!")

If someone were to ask you to sum up the message of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection in two words, what words would you use?

Love God? Love others? Be saved? Turn around? Accept God? Be healed? Be whole? You’re forgiven? Forgive others? Have faith? Fear not? Do likewise? Rise up? Take, eat? Take, drink? Remember me? Show mercy? Offer grace? Be childlike? Pursue wisdom? Pray often? Help strangers? Live again?

All of these are good candidates, but what about “Be Opened?” The word is “Ephphatha.” He used it when He commanded that a deaf & dumb man be able hear & speak again. It literally means “Be Opened!” It may have been the very word spoken by God that morning that He called for the tomb of his son to be opened!

Jesus was trying to help folks “be opened” to the Spirit of God he felt and knew intimately within himself. The Spirit in which he lived and moved and had his being. The Spirit that flowed into and through him. The Spirit that radiated from him as light. The Spirit people felt loved by through his unconditional love. The Spirit that drew people to God through his acceptance of them. The Spirit that reconciled people to God and their neighbors through his friendship. The Spirit that forgave people through his assurance of forgiveness. The Spirit that enlightened people’s minds with his wisdom. The Spirit that healed people through his physical presence. The Spirit that animates the new risen Body of Christ.

"Ephphatha! Be opened!"

How can we hear Your voice?
Be opened!

How can we see Your face?
Be opened!

How can we detect Your sweet fragrance?
Be opened!

How can we feel Your touch?
Be opened!

How can we taste Your goodness?
Be opened!

Ephphatha! Be opened and live.

Overdrawn?

Deuteronomy 33:25     ... your strength will equal your days.

Have you ever overdrawn your checking account? It can happen because you’ve been traveling or unusually busy, or you know, kind of cutting things pretty close financially- or just because you inadvertently wrote some checks before your recent deposit has cleared. You can’t try to buy or pay before the money is there to cover it.

You get in trouble when you run ahead of the deposit that you need to cover what you’re doing. Especially when you are drawing on God’s deposit to provide the resources you need to cover the challenge you’re facing. He’s promised He would do that - but only in daily deposits.

He's promised strength to equal your days. You get Monday’s strength for Monday’s burdens. If you try to run ahead to what may happen on Tuesday or Wednesday - or a week from now or a month from now - you’re on your own. In Matthew 6:34 Jesus says "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Jesus portrays worrying as borrowing tomorrow’s trouble before you get to tomorrow. Worry hauls tomorrow into today. And it’s just too much.

If you’re feeling overstressed and overwhelmed today, it may be that you are bringing too many of tomorrow’s burdens into today . . . it’s called worrying. One day at a time is the only way God has ever prepared us to live - daily bread, daily strength, daily mercies.

God will never let your daily need be more than the strength & grace that He puts in your account to cover that need. His compassion never fails for each day - it is new every morning! (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Lamentations 3:22-23     Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Zach has trouble gaining weight. He needs to gain weight in order to avoid surgery - he does not do well with surgery.

Also if Zach can be seizure free for 1 year (has been 2 months) with this new med then he can be taken off dilantin (which is hard on the liver).

We got some huge goals here... huge... so we need huge prayers. I know I shouldn't but sometimes I blame myself if Zach doesn't reach his goals. I really need to know what God wants me/us to do.

Lord continue to help them fix their eyes on Jesus, so that they may run the race set before them with the strength You provide. Thank You that You have a plan for Zach & Cindy. Please guide them, lead them by Your hand in the direction yoiu want them to go. Help them to trust that Your plan is best. We ask for Your healing for Zach - the healing that is Yours alone to give. You know what Zach needs, we thank You that You are the Lord that provides. Surround Zach & Cindy with Your healing love, let them feel Your presence in a mighty way. Thank You that as they are surrounded by Your presence they will feel Your - peace- the peace that passes all understanding - guard their hearts & minds in Christ Jesus. Please free Cindy from any misplaced guilt she my be feeling, set her free - free to be filled with Your peace. Let them both be refreshed in Your presence. In Jesus' name. Amen.

G-U-I-DANCE

When I meditated on the word GUIDANCE, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other. My eyes drew back to the word GUIDANCE. When I saw "G," I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i." "God, "u" and "i" dance."! God, you, and I dance. This statement is what guidance means to me. As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead. My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies be upon you and your family on this day and everyday. May you abide in Him as He abides in you. Dance together with God, trusting Him to lead and to guide you through each season of your life.

Psalm 139:5,9-10     You hem me in-behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.

Looking At the Cup . . . Or In It?

Jeremiah 25:28 But if they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, tell them, 'This is what the LORD Almighty says: You must drink it!

We were asked this weekend if we were willing to look into the cup God has given us. And it made me wonder, have I actually looked into the cup I'm holding? Or have I been too concerned with the cup itself?

Recently, my sister-in-law had a bridal shower for "our" younger sister. It was set up like the old tea parties, with fancy china cups and finger foods. The tea cups used were a collection her mother has had for years and treasures them deeply as most belonged to her mother. When I first found out we were actually going to use them, I was terrified. I'm somewhat of a klutz and had trouble enjoying my tea for fear I would drop the cup. Of course, nothing like that happened, but I would've enjoyed the tea more if I hadn't been so concerned about the cup.

Too many times I think I do the same thing with the cup God has given me. I'm looking at it as an antique tea cup and missing the wonderful tea inside. Yes, it may be hot at first, but in time, it becomes something wonderful to drink. God knows life can be "hot," but if we take it slowly, we will reach the end and it will have been worth it. And sometimes, we may burn our tongues, but that too always heals in time.

Prayer
Thank you, God, for giving me this cup. May I not only treasure it's beauty, but the treasure it holds as well. Amen.
