Surrounded?

2 Corinthians 4:7-10     But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this allsurpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

Feel surrounded on all sides? Look up! Try Praise.

Psalm 42:11     Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me?

Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Remember when surrounded -- it's always open at the top, look up, try praise. Praise helps us focus on the Lord who gives us a firm place to stand.

Isaiah 26:4     Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD , the LORD , is the Rock eternal.

We praise You Lord for You are sovereign, You are in control, You are our Rock eternal. Thank You for giving us a firm place to stand! Thank You that this place to stand is eternal.

Praise the Lord!!!!

Strong Tower

Proverbs 18:10     The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Psalm 46:1-5, 10     God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

Be still, and know that I am God ...

These passages are on my heart this week. As I hear more and more about the Tsunami that caused so much destruction. It's hard not to be afraid, not to ask why?

Psalm 46 is a great comfort. It tells us how God wants us to respond in the face of such destruction & disaster. It tells us not to be afraid, that there is a refuge, a strong tower in the midst of any situation.
It encourages us to 'Be still and know' ...
Be still and know that God is in control.
Be still and know that God is ever present, with us.
Be still and know that if we call on the name of the Lord, He will answer.
Be still and know that God is our Rock, a sure foundation.

You are steadfast, You are true
When the ground beneath us trembles

Strong tower -- mighty in love
Our refuge -- our defender
Strong tower -- Lord above
Strong to lead us -- through the shadows
Strong to carry -- all our sorrows

Thank You Lord that You are our strong tower -- that Your foundations never move, that you are our ever present help and refuge. When we look at the world around us, help us not to be afraid, help us each run to You, our refuge, help each of us 'Be still' and know you are God. Let the peace of Jesus shine thru our hearts to others, as we are 'still' knowing You are God. Let this peace draw others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus. Amen

When The Tears Fall

John 4:14     ... but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

From When The Tears Fall
Newsboys

I've had questions, without answers.
I've known sorrow, I have known pain.
But there's one thing, that I'll cling to,
You are faithful, Jesus You're true.

When hope is lost, I'll call You saviour.
When pain surrounds, I'll call You healer.
When silence falls, You'll be the song within my heart.

Whose springs never fail,
be faithful and true.
like...
like a spring it never fails
you're my spring never fails

Revelations 19:11, 16     I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. ... On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Revelation 7:17     For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

God is good! I heard this song yesterday -- after "Let the River Flow" was on my heart -- a coincidence??, the lyrics are beautiful!

John 4:10     If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.

God You Are My God!

Psalm 63:1-5     O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

Psalm 68:4     Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds {Or prepare the way for him who rides through the deserts } - His name is the LORD - and rejoice before Him.

Psalm 63 is a psalm of David when he was in the desert of Judah. He was in a dry and weary land where there is no water. He was seeking the Lord with all his soul -- as one would seek water in the desert. How did he do this? Look at (v4-5)! He lifted up his heart and hands in praise -- with singing on his lips.

Praise elevates us into God’s presence and power. The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people (Psalms 22:3). God “dwells” in the atmosphere of His praise. This means that praise is not merely a reaction from coming into His presence - praise is a vehicle of faith which brings us into the presence and power of God! Praise and worship are the “gate-passes”, they prepare a way which allow us to enter the Lord's presence. The psalmist writes, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” (Psalms 100:4).

This corresponds with Jesus’ teaching, that His presence will inhabit the gathering of believers who congregate in His name: “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20).

Next time you find yourself in the desert or you're longing for the Lord -- try praise! -- lift up your heart and your hands with singing, and enter into His presence.

Jeremiah 29:13     You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Upheld

Isaiah 41:10     Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

1 Peter 5:6-7     Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Jeremiah 32:17     Sovereign LORD , you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

Love and prayer are two of the most powerful things we possess. They are not designed to destroy, but to break through the darkness, creating a path for the light and love of Jesus Christ. As we face many situations each day, we have a tendency to disregard the power and ability of love and prayer. We get discouraged when we pray, only to see the situation unchanged or even worsen, and when we love, only to have it trampled on and thrown back at us. Yet something mighty is happening, though it may be unseen. When a bomb is dropped, the results are immediate. Our prayers bomb the spiritual realm, and while we don’t always see the repercussions of them, it does not lessen their effectiveness. We can’t allow ourselves to believe for one second, the love we extend and the prayers that go forth, are not making a huge difference in our personal situations and in the world. Each prayer makes a path of light for Christ to enter in, and each act of love touches a heart.

Remember -- God's hand IS there upholding you -- even if you can't see it right now!

Lord Jesus, please make Your ways clear to us. Help us each cast all cares on You and be lifted up in Your due time. Lord we look to You and seek Your face, Your strength, and Your love. In Jesus mighty and powerful name we pray and believe that we will reap the results of the love and prayers we have planted, Amen

Up Against A Wall?

Nehemiah 6:9, 15-16     They were all trying to frighten us, thinking,
"Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed."

But I prayed, "Now strengthen my hands." ...

So the wall was completed, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.

The story of Nehemiah building the wall reminds me how important prayer, perseverance and God's grace are. God gave him a monumental task. While carrying out God's will to rebuild the Jerusalem wall, he had little but his faith to lean on in difficult times. His enemies attacked first with insults and threats, hoping that words alone would prevent God's work from being finished. Nehemiah countered with prayers and continued effort. Satan's distractions did not dispel Nehemiah's intent or focus on doing God's work.

It is much the same today. Most of us are very comfortable, but need to focus on God's will and be willing to set out on uncomfortable, uncertain journeys to accomplish His works. The enemy will try to discourage us. It's at this time we need to remember to pray and focus on God's will for our lives. If we seek Him and trust Him we'll receive the grace and strength from Him to complete His task and bring Him glory.

Next time you are up against the wall, remember Nehemiah, bend your knees and heart toward God and trust Him for the grace and strength to persevere!

Thank You for Your grace and strength to persevere. In the name of Jesus Christ.

God Will Make A Way

Psalm 27:14     Wait for the LORD ; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

God seems to specialize in showing His power in hopeless situations -- in situations where there seems to be no way to go. Israel was in just such a situation when God parted the sea before them (Ex. 13:17-14:31). Daniel was protected in the lion's den (Dan. 6:10-23). Paul and Silas were delivered from prison (Acts 16:25-40).

In Psalm 27 David called out to the Lord when he was in such a situation. He cried, "Hear my voice when I call, O LORD" (Ps. 27:7). Then David placed his hope and confidence in the Lord and said, "Wait for the LORD ; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." This is good advice.

God Will Make A Way
Don Moen

God will make a way where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength
For each new day
He will make a way
He will make a way

Christ's Hands

Mark 10:45     For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

The story is told about a church that was destroyed during the heat of a mighty battle. Workers clearing the rubble found a statue of Christ with the hands missing. When a famous sculptor offered to restore the hands, the church officers declined, saying that the statue of a handless Christ had become to them a symbol of the Lord's use of the hands of His followers to serve Him through loving deeds for others.

As followers of Christ we are called to be His hands, feet, voice, heart.

Matthew 22:37-39     'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

Be Lifted Up!

Psalm 145:13-14     Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made. The LORD upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.

Look at this promise (v14)- the Lord upholds ALL those who fall, not some, not a few, but ALL, thru ALL generations! Look at this together with the verse before -- He is all powerful, everlasting, everpresent, ever ready to uphold and sustain all who fall. Think of the mighty Lord bowing to lift up the bowed, of Him stooping to be leaned upon by the weak. Remember this next time You feel weak or bowed down; however low you fall or feel, you are not below the reach of God's hand. Lift up your head, reach for His helping hand.

Psalm 121:1-2     I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Lord of Hope, of all comfort, remind those who are low today, to turn to You, to cry out to You, to reach for You. Thank You that You are everpresent, that You uphold all who fall and lift up those that are bowed down. Lift each of our heads to You today & always. Thank You that as our heads are lifted, our hearts will be restored with Your peace and joy. In the name of Jesus Christ.

Psalm 3:3     But you are a shield around me, O LORD ; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.

Psalm 24:9     Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

1 Peter 5:6     Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

Quote Roman:

THE MIGHTY LORD BOWS
to lift up all who are bowed down
HE STOOPS
to be leaned on by the weak

One of the things I most love about Him is how He "bows" and "stoops" to minister to us on our level. I think I could just meditate on His awesome love and humility forever...

HEB 2:18 For because He Himself [in His humanity] has suffered in being tempted (tested and tried), He is able [immediately] to run to the cry of (assist, relieve) those who are being tempted and tested and tried [and who therefore are being exposed to suffering].

As you LIFT YOUR EYES
As you LIFT YOUR HEAD
BE LIFTED UP by His mighty hand
HIS GLORY bestowed.

HEB 12:1,2 ...Let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us, LOOKING AWAY [FROM ALL THAT WILL DISTRACT] TO JESUS...

He said...

THE PATH I HAVE CHOSEN FOR YOU IS TO BEHOLD ME, TO BEHOLD MY GLORY!!

If we're going to endure to the end, and not only endure but prosper in His will and purposes, we must surely fix our vision and desire on THE KING OF GLORY!

The effect is immediate! When we focus on HIM instead of on ourselves and our circumstances, He immediately begins to LIFT US UP, transforming us and every circumstance around us!

JN 17 20,22,24 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word... And THE GLORY WHICH YOU GAVE ME I HAVE GIVEN THEM... Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may BEHOLD MY GLORY which You have given Me..."

REV 4:1,2 After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice which I had heard addressing me like [the calling of] a war trumpet said, COME UP HERE, and I will show you what must take place in the future. At once I came under the [Holy] Spirit's power, and behold, A THRONE STOOD IN HEAVEN, WITH ONE SEATED ON THE THRONE!!!

Whatever we fix our eyes upon, grows within us.

Whatever grows within us, we become.

Quote Judith:

Hosea 11:1-4 When Israel was a child I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. But the more I called Israel, the further they went from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images.

It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realise it was I who healed them. I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love; I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.

In all of our waywardness here is this amazing picture of the Most High humbling Himself to reach us. This truly is LOVE!

Judith

Thank you guys for more of His word -- adding more meat to the image of the mighty King stooping down to allow us to reach Him. : )

The Savior’s Song Of Submission

I seem to have not one Master, but hundreds-an army of people streaming through my life, demanding my time, my strength, my mental attention. They all want me to do something for them. But as I listen to a song of our Savior, I begin to understand the true power that comes in submission, even when it is painful:

Isaiah 50:4-7     The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back. I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting. Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.

I hear your song, Lord Jesus. Teach me how to follow your example as a humble servant of all, and yet to also be a leader in confidence and strength, just as you were. You are the submissive Lamb of God, without resentment-but also the Lion of Judah, courageous and powerful. Teach me these qualities. Help me always to bend willingly, but also to shamelessly take the lead with my face set like flint whenever I must. And thank you for never rebelling or drawing back-earning salvation for us, and endless glory for yourself.

Soar!

Psalm 27:14     Wait for the LORD ; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Soar!
Karen Holland

Hope in the Lord, be strong, take heart!
Let the Lord to you His strength impart.
He will bear you up on the eagle's wing.
By the very 'breath of God', be lifted higher than anything.
With your whole heart, trust in the Lord, open the door,
Soar high, soar, soar, soar!!!

Isaiah 40:28-31     Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Proverbs 3:5-6     Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Rainbow Promise

Genesis 9:13     I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

Ezekiel 1:28     Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.

The rainbow is a beautiful reminder of God, of His Glory and of His promises. It's a wonderful sign of hope. I think it's no coincidence it usually appears after a storm. Next time you are facing a storm, remember to look forward, forward to the Son to shine through the clouds and rain, then you'll see it - the rainbow - and the glory of the Lord and His promises.

Rainbow Promise
Karen Holland

When threatening storm clouds gather ...
And darkness seems to be closing in on me.
I remember all your promises ...
And come to You on bended knee.

Help me to remember the clouds will eventually fade from view...
help me to keep earnestly seeking Your face.
For Son will shine thru the rain and clouds,
And in the appearing rainbow I will see Your grace.

Praise: I went for a second interview this morning with Hamilton Health Centre Volunteer Services and was hired for their Retail position. I will be working at Hamilton General Hospital. Thank you for your prayers. The job is part time with opportunities as I continue with them for more hours....the people truly are nice and I enjoyed meeting the managers this morning....I faced the Manager of the Retail Division and the Assistant Manager at the same time during the interview and I was relaxed, answered questions, asked questions, we laughed as well. I felt very much at peace....So thank you for prayer....I thank the Lord for this opportunity as well...
Blessings,

Courage, God is With Us

Joshua 1:9     Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Courage
Author Unknown

I am walking in the light
through the darkness of the night,

And JESUS' hand upholds me
So that I can walk strong and free

Without Him I could not climb the mountain which rises up before me,
But in HIS strength I find I walk in joy and glory.

On this walk my prayers make the very air feel fragrant and fresh.
And thoughts of doubt cannot my life enmesh.

For the enemy with all his fears and other wiles has fled,
And JESUS reigns completely over my life instead.

Take His hand!

Isaiah 41:10     So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Joy Burst!

Psalm 16:11     You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Here is a neat idea about God's presence, based on Psalm 16:11 & Psalm 98:4. It's the idea that if we can detect God's presence in our lives there is a joy that springs up. When we detect His presence nothing can stop that joy - not even circumstances. His presence & joy are eternal!

Psalm 98:4     Shout for joy to the LORD , all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music.

Matthew 28:20     Thank You Lord that You are with us always, and that Your presence brings joy - no matter what! Help each of us earnestly seek Your presence today. Let each feel You right there, in a very real way. Thank You that Your presence brings eternal joy, comfort and healing. In the name of Jesus Christ.

Blade of Grass

1 Peter 1:23-25     For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever." And this is the word that was preached to you.

Jesus paid the price. You get to keep the change!

John 3:16     For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Seek His Face!

1 Chronicles 16:11     Look to the LORD and His strength; seek his face always.

Psalm 27:8     My heart says of you, "Seek his face!"
Your face, LORD , I will seek.

Revelation 22:4-5     They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever

One of the most wonderful things to look forward to in Revelations is the promise "They will see his face". We will be in his presence, speaking with Him face-to-face. There will be nothing clouding our vision.

1 Corinthians 13:12     Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

We can get glimpses of His face now. In Psalm 27:8 we read "Seek his face," and our response is "Your face, Lord, I will seek." This command is also our greatest privilege. There is no higher honor than that we should be invited, to seek the face of God. To seek his presence and fellowship while we wait for the coming of Christ. When we finally do see Him face-to-face fellowship will be deepened and completed because we shall see him as he is.

Seek His face, for what we set our eye upon to follow, day by day, will transform us into that which we behold. So ...

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
Helen Lemmel

Turn your eyes upon Jesus;
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.

2 Corinthians 4:6     For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Thank You Lord for the privilege of seeking the face of Christ. Help us each say deep witin our hearts - "Your face, Lord, I will seek". Let Your light shine in each of our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ.

If you could my nephew Clayton to your prayer list, I know they would appreciate it, as would I. Clayton is 6 and has been at CHOP for over 6 wks now due to multiple seizures that have come out of the blue. The doctors are currently attempting to bring him out of the medically-induced coma he has been in all this time by slowly lowering the level of medication (since the med. is addictive, withdrawal can provoke seizures). So far, it's been ok, but they have a ways to go yet and in the past, when the medication has been lowered too much, he's experienced seizure upon seizure.
Thanks
Peace, Tiffany

For Clayton & family
Psalm 46:1-2     Thank You Lord that Clayton & family will not fear, for You are their refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Help each turn to You and allow You into their hearts to find Your needed refuge, strength & healing in their lives.
Luke 18:15-17, Matthew 4:24, Luke 4:39     Thank You Lord that You said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. " We bring Clayton to You through our prayers. Thank You Lord that You are a Lord of mercy & compassion. Lord have mercy on Clayton, rebuke this illness - these seizures. Let Your healing flow into his life. Let the doctors be amazed at how quickly Clayton is restored. Glory be to God! Let there be no other explanation than that Clayton was touched by Your healing hand. Please guide the medical staff & family as they try to help. Put the right people in the right place at the right time.
Ezra 8:21-23; Isaiah 26:3     Lord help Clayton & family look to You, rely on You. Thank You Lord, that as they look to You, the gracious hand of our Lord Jesus Christ is upon them and their minds will be kept in perfect peace. Surround them with Your peace in a very real way. Bless the Lord, O My Soul!

Psalm 103:1-2     Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.

Praise must not just come from our lips. Praise must start from deep within our soul, recognizing all the great blessings God has given us. While God is worthy of praise because he his holy and majestic and mighty, we have even greater reasons to praise him. He has been so very gracious to us!
