Enemies of the Dolphin

Dolphins Eat Many Different Types of Food

  • Fish
  • Shrimp
  • Turtles
  • Octopus
  • Squid
  • Crab
  • Sardines
  • Birds (occasionally)

To catch their food, dolphins must hunt with their tails. They use noisy splashing to attract fish to their area. Many dolphins, except for river dolphins, engage in cooperative hunting, where they hunt in groups. Dolphins main feeding time is at night. When they have their fish in reach, they swallow them whole.

 

*FAST FACT*As you can see, dolphins are very much like humans! They love seafood, and are succesptible to the same diseases.

 

Fun Fact: The average dolphin consumes 66 pounds of food a day!
