A Note to the National Press/Media:

LEAVE SANTEE, CALIFORNIA.

(March 8, 2001 Santee California) It is now apparent. What we all thought to be true is now a hard fact. The national press cares nothing about deceny, and will do anything for a story. Santee is the city where the recent shooting took place at Santana High School, where two students were killed...13 wounded. If you have seen any remote reports from the school or anywhere in the town, you will hear nonstop car honking. Why? It's this town's way of saying, "media, GO HOME, get out of our town." What has the media done? Nothing at all. They continue to sit outside of the school nearly 24 hours a day, with live reports throughout the day in some cases. Why does the media care so little about the communities they are SUPPOSED to SERVE? I haven't the slightest idea. When the live reporter mentions the fact that the community wants the media out of it's town, and the network totally ignores those pleas, I think that network loses all credibility. I understand that news organizations need to get the story, and to get interviews they need to be directly involved in the city where a story takes place...but this is going WAY too far. As far as I can see, any network that shows blatant disregard for privacy like this, especially after two people have been shot to death, is a network I will no longer watch. So, as I see it, there is no longer any news organization worth my time. That's sad when you can't trust the news like this.
