CBS TO PUSH FALL SEASON AT TARGET, BLOCKBUSTER, & AMERICAN AIRLINES
CBS Plans Blockbuster Fall
Preview; NL's Rose at AOL? Afroman's High Time
CBS is expanding its
fall TV promotion with Viacom sister unit Blockbuster. The video
chain this week begins to distribute 1 million free videos and
DVDs showcasing the network's fall lineup, plus separate promos
with returning partners Target and American Airlines.
"We're having more point-of-sale in the stores, counter-cards,"
said CBS evp-marketing George Schweitzer."Last year, you had
to go to the counter and ask for it."
About 800,000 fall preview videos were distributed at Blockbuster
last fall, the promotion's first year; DVD previews now push the
promo up to 1 million units. The 35-minute preview touts CBS'
fall lineup Survivor-style hosted by reality showman Jeff Probst.
The campaign runs until everything is gone.
In its fourth fall preview, Target Stores promote CBS
with a store-branded entertainment guide including recipes from
show stars, such as a brownie recipe from the CSI cast.
Throughout September, American Airlines runs a Probst-hosted in-flight
preview. "It's as close to a captive audience as you can
get," Schweitzer said. "They can't go anywhere at 32,000
feet."
As far as I can tell, the book has not been released yet, and there is nothing listed at Blockbuster.com about the Videos/DVD's showcasing the new fall season. I will look into it more.
