Does the ADA go too far sometimes?
For some people...yes.
* I'm not saying the case in the story will be a win for the woman, nor am I saying that the ADA itself is screwed up. I'm just noticing that some people want to use it as a means to get everything they want under their particular circumstances. (JB)
According to various news reports: A woman (in what state I
have no idea?) is suing a comedy club, because they refuse to
provide an interpreter. The club says it is impossible, and if it
were to accomodate in this manner, it would go broke in no time.
What is it with some people? If you're deaf, I'm sorry, but you
have to realize, there are some things you cannot do nor will you
ever be able to do (as long as your deaf)....so get a life, and
stop complaining about everything. I refer back to an article I
wrote a while back about deaf people complaining that they
couldn't become contestants on WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE,
because they weren't able to call the phone line set up to "recruit"
players. When you call the line, you have to answer a number of
questions in a certain amount of time, and the way it's set up,
it's impossible to play if you can't hear it all.
Everyone thinks they are the center of the universe it seems. You
must do everything to make my life complete. It's annoying. It's
like gays wanting to be in the Boy Scouts and be open about their
homosexuality. The Boy Scouts, you know, the CHRISTIAN
orginization that says you have to be morally sound in order to
be a member. CHRISTIAN morals, that is. Homosexuality is not
morally sound according to the Christian religion, yet there are
people who are trying to sue to make it possible for anyone to
get into the boy scouts. What's next? Girls in the boy scouts?
Boys in the girl scouts? Some people need to get a life and shut
their big fat mouths. Now, I have nothing against deaf people or
gays or anyone else like that, but I do have something against
people who want to try to ruin everyone elses life with their
problems like this. Don't try to sue everyone for everything,
especially when there's nothing to sue over, besides your whiny
ass complaints that no one else cares about. Just be quiet, skip
the comedy club, and stay home and read a book. Not to sound mean
about it, but come on...give us a break with all of this nonsense.
