POLICE OFFICER PLACED ON LEAVE: A Jamestown police officer, Michael Watson, was placed on paid administrative leave. He was questioned as a person of interest in the disappearance of Yolanda Bindics. He apparently had a relationship with her. Police officials say that Officer Watson was placed on leave to simply avoid a conflict of interest.

VEHICLE: Her vehicle was found in an Arby's parking lot located at 346 Fluvanna Avenue which is about half a mile away from where she was last seen.
CIRCUMSTANCES: Yolanda was last seen after she and a coworker had locked up at their job at a Family Dollar Store at 194 Fluvanna Avenue at about 8:20 p.m. on August 10, 2004. (SEE MAP) She told her brother, who was watching her four daughters, that she was going to stop to pick up milk on her way home but never arrived. Her car was found the next day at 7:00 p.m. at an Arby's restaurant located at 346 Fluvanna Avenue in Jamestown. (That is less than half a mile away from the store.) A Jamestown police officer, Michael Watson, who had a relationship with Yolanda has been placed on paid administrative leave after admitting to having a relationship with Yolanda. He is not being called a suspect. Officials say he was put on paid leave simply to avoid a conflict of interest. (UPDATE: On September 8, 2004 Yolanda's purse & wallet were found in a storm sewer catch basin on Monroe, North of 8th Street. On September 15, 2004 Yolanda's keys were found in a storm sewer catch basin at 6th & Lafayette. On September 10, 2006 the remains of Yolanda were found by hunters. Foul play is suspected.)
