"Mahtsukai Tai!" is a slightly ecchi, yet kawaii series from Triangle Staff, headed by Sat Jun'ichi-san. If you don’t know, this person is one of the directors of "Sailor Moon". Anyway, the anime started in 1996 (though the process begun in 1995) and the manga started three years before by ta Tami-sensei. There are 6 OVA’s and a TV series of 13 episodes. I only own the OVA’s for now. The manga, I don’t know much about it other than what I have given already.

The main part to remember about the series as a whole is that the series is mainly focused on the magic users that attend Kitanohashi Ktgakk (or Kitanohashi High School). Well, there are three that really need to be focused on. There’s Sawanagouchi Sae, the sincere, yet clumsy girl. There’s also Aikawa Akane, who definitely attracts a lot of guys. Finally, there’s Nakatomi Nanaka, the real talker. There are the other two magicians: Takakura Takeo and Aburatsubo Ayanoj-senpai who keeps going after Takeo.

Fun - 9

The series is fun to watch. You have your silly acts, like Sae doing some clumsy action and then there are serious moments, like Sae always trying her best in whatever task she is doing. There’s so much spirit in the series overall.

Of course, like every series out there, it's bound to have a flaw. Don't worry. For the most part, they're not that big like a few pointless characters.

Life - 9

“Solid series to keep in the long run,” that’s what I would say for sure.

Story - 9

Similar to "Sailor Moon", it’s still decent.

Audio - 9

The music is decent for the most part. Senobi o Shite Follow You/I'll Reach to Follow You, the OVA opening is sung by the seiy of our heroines, Konishi Hiroko-san, Iwao Junko-sama and Iizuka Mayumi-san: Sae, Akane and Nanaka respectively. It’s so uplifting. I’ve had that song stuck in my head for a while.

In terms of the group of the seiy, I told you three of the members already. The Japanese version is really funny. Hee hee.

The dub is actually good and I should applaud Media Blasters for coming up with a great dub cast, but it’s not the original. (Sorry. =P) Translation as a whole here is off a bit here and there, but it's still fine never the less. So, there's nothing to worry about.

Art - 9

The art is solid. I can say that. Sae, Akane and Nanaka look really good.

So, why is the point deduction there? The art could have improved a bit better in some cases to get a perfect. Maybe it must be because of those out of place characters I mentioned already. Other than that, there’s not much else I can say here.

Overall - 9

"Mahtsukai Tai!" gets an A from me. So, if you want a real fun series, "Mahtsukai Tai!" is one series you should add to your collection. You won't regret it.

+

The spirit, the amount of fun, the art, the audio, this series can and will pull an ace out of it sleeves.

Get past the few minor problems and you'll be fine.
