Kanga Bentley’s
Hot Foot Seven
with Gail Kingston

The Hot Foot Seven was formed in 1999 and is led by popular trombonist Deryck "Kanga" Bentley (formerly of the Graeme Bell Band). They play the ‘rip roaring jazz’ of the 1920’s.

Their unique sound attracted ‘the woman with the very big voice”, Jim McLeod, ABC Classic FM, singer Gail Kingston , to join the band in Jan 2000 and with her distinctive and powerful vocals worked into the mix the band has hit upon a winning formula.

A lively, fun-loving eight-piece band they have delighted audiences at festivals around Australia receiving standing ovations at many of them. Their repertoire includes songs like You’ve Got The Right Key But The Wrong Keyhole, Trombone Cholly, Moan you Moaners and classics like A Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight.

Their CD ‘To Life’ was the number one best seller at ‘Jazzology’ in NSW and their latest CD “Wimmin –Aah!” has been very well received gaining the band national airplay on the ABC for the first time.

When at home the Kanga Band can be found at the Alma Hotel in Willunga SA, where, on Sundays 12.00 – 3.00ish they get together to relax and rehearse new songs in front of their jazz loving friends.
