Scarlet
Established in October 2000, Evergreen Stables is a life-like sim game for those who love horses and love writing. You can keep horses, meet other riders, teach lessons and write about your experiences at the stable. Evergreen works more freely than other stable sim games because it is mostly text based. What this means is that you head to a message board, read what other members are writing about and either add to their stories or create your own. Everything that happens here happens in writing and it is decided by the members.
There is no "money" system and you don't have to buy food or tack. You don't need to register your horses, nor do you need a licence to breed. You can also have as many horses and pets as you like as long as you write about them all. (If you're working your way up to 100 horses, you may as well have your own stable... and this is dicussed shortly). You may find yourself wanting to bring other people into your stories and that's just fine. Post a message on the Characters message board so I can update the member database, and write away!
1. Be prepared to be creative in what you write, and write in such a way as to include other members in what you're doing.
2. Be an active member. That means checking in at least once every two weeks to see what's happened and write a thing or two. If you haven't posted for a month without reason, your membership will be terminated.
3. Get into the flow of the game. This is a reality-based game but strange things can happen. Don't be too wild in what you write; make sure your stories work within the context of the game.
To join, just head to the "Join" message board and tell me about yourself (you can be yourself, or you can create someone new to play and write about).
To adopt pets, or add characters for you to write about, go to the appropriate message board and let me know what you're adding so I can update the member database.
You can also teach lessons by signing up as a teacher on the Teacher Registration message board. You can have your own characters as students, other members as students, or even other member's characters as students (so long as the other member knows this).
When you accumulate lots of horses (I mean 10 or more), you may want to create your own stable within Evergreen. Just create a website using some free site provider with links to a message board or two and let me know the link. I would also ask that you track your own horses and pets on your site too.
Now, go write! Head to a message board and read what others have written. The best way to see what's going on is to read the archives. You can add to another member's story or write your own.
It may take a little time before you can jump right in to everything that's going on here, but when you do, you'll see there is lots of room for movement and lots of artistic licence.
If you have more questions or need help with anything, I am happy to help you out. I am also open to suggestions and constructive criticism for the site. Send me an e-mail at scarlet.moon@hotmail.com and I will get back to you within a day or too (I am pretty good about checking my e-mail).
