Dollar Bill says . . .
"The next round's on me!"

Football Football Football

The National Football League begins the 2006 season on Thursday September 7 with Miami against Pittsburgh Dollar Bill's 2006 Football Pool is ready.

During a week with 16 games you will pick 16 winners. Assign each winner you pick a number of points from 16 to 1. The team you are most certain will win, assign 16 points (in the "POINTS" column on your sheet). The team you are nextmost certain will win, assign 15 points. The next most certain team you pick, assign 14 points . . . and so on until you are assigning merely 1 point for a team you have no clue about. The points you assigned for the teams you picked (that actually won), will be totaled each week. The player with the most points for each week will win the weekly pool (Total $ collected for the week minus 20% which goes into the end of the year pots) The player with the most cumulative points at the end of the year will win the grand prize. Money will also be awarded at the end of the year to the players who have the highest one-week totals for a 16 game week, and a 14 game week. (This year there are some 13 game weeks, but I don't want to deal with them at the end of the year)  The cost to play each week is $5.00 . . . $85 for the whole season. This year, I am requiring that everyone pay for the entire season (again, it's too much hassle for me to collect 5 bucks from all the players each week). Because of the short notice, you have until the third week of the season (Sept. 24th) to get all of your money in.

More New Rules For This Year:

1)      You must pick at least two upsets each week. Everyone's 12-point game and 6-point game must be an upset. If you pick the upset you will receive your regular points (12 or 6) plus the points of the spread. For example, if the 49ers are a 7 point underdog against the Seahawks and you pick the Niners for 12 points, you would receive 19 big-ass pointsfor that game. Upsets are based on the spread listed on Yahoo 24 hours before the game. (Be careful picking a 1 or 2 point upset soon before the game. If the line changes to even money, you will receive no points)

 2)       The Tie-Breaker format is changing this year. Ties will be broken with the winner chosen as the player who has picked the greatest number of winning teams for the week. If a tie remains after this, the person who picks the closest to the combined score of Monday night's game will win (There are two Monday night games twice this season. I've indicated which of the two games to pick the combined score, on the weekly game sheets).

Your picks must be received before the kick-off for the first game of the week. This is usually Sunday mornings at 10 am . . . but sometimes it's Thursday evening and sometimes it's Saturday morning so try to pay attention to the schedule.  Fax your picks to (831) 662-3497 or email your picks to andyajax@yahoo.com or (if you're really in a pinch for time . . . like Sunday, 9:56 am) leave a voice message of your picks at (831) 661-4260 ext 4. If you leave a voice message, please speak slowly . . . I have to transcribe your garbled, hung-over speech.
