The student will do the hand sign for Do,
with 100% accuracy.
The student will analyze the patterns of the song
Noting at least one pattern.
National Standard(s):1-Singing alone and with others a varied repertoire of music.
3-Responding to and analyzing works of art.
NY Standard(s): 1-Creating, performing and participating in the arts.
Materials:Song
Lesson plan
Visual (hand out)
Procedure
1. Q: How many people like to sing?
2. S: Listen to my song. Sing in whole
3. Q: How many people have heard this song before?
4. S: Now we are going to sing the song again, everyone please sing with me.
5. S: Let's do it again slowly, one part at a time.
6. S: Now again the whole thing all together.
7. S: I would like you to look at this and sing it to yourself. (Hand out song)
8. Q: Do you notice any similarities in the different parts of the song.
9. Point out repeated rhythms and phrases.
10. Teach hand signs.
11. Everyone sings with hand signs.
Assessment: Observe and listen to make sure all are using proper signs, and singing song fairly accurately.
Closure: Thank you all for trying so hard. Everyone did wonderfully. If we can all line up quietly then we will do a
song with instruments next time. |

Concepts:Singing the song Long-Legged Sailor
Have experience with do-mi
Instructional Objectives: The student will sing Long-Legged Sailor with 85% accuracy.
The student will analyze the patterns of the song noting at least one pattern.
The student will use the hand sign's for Do-re-mi with 95% accuracy.
National Standards:1- Singing alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
5- Listening to analyzing, and describing music.
NY Standards:1- Creating, performing and participating in the arts.
3- Responding to and analyzing works of art.
Materials: Song, Lesson plan, visual aid, and piano.
Procedure
1.Q: ”How many people have ever seen a big boat?”
Q: “Does anyone know what the men on the boat are called?” (sailor)
2.S: “Listen to my song” sing whole song
3.Q: “How does the song describe the sailor?”
4.S: “Let's sing the song again you join me when you think you have it”
5.S: “Let's break the song down now” PART
6.Put the parts together.
7.Q: “Can anyone find words in a row that repeat?” (Ever, ever, ever; Long legged life)
8.Point out the motion. So re mi
9.Teach hand signs
10.Sing the song again with hand signs (WHOLE)
11.Sing with Piano.
Assessment: Watch as each student sings Do-Re-mi and listen for proper singing.
Closure: Great Job everyone. You now know how to sing do-re-mi with hand signs.

Concepts:Performing Grandma's feather bed
Have experience with instruments
Instructional objectives:The student will gain knowledge of common rhythms.
The student will perform their specified part on the instrument of my choosing with
100% accuracy.
National Standards:1). Singing alone and with others a varied repertoire of music.
2). Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
N.Y. Standard:Creating, performing and participating in the arts.
Materials:
Procedure:
1.Hand out “Grandma”
2.Sing through WHOLE
3.Break down PART explain the rhythms and the simple melodic line.
4.Sing together all of voice part WHOLE
5.Assign instrument parts break down 4 measures at a time one instrument at a time.
6.Tap the beat show the Rhythms.
7.Have each part played independently so others can hear what is going on.
8.Read just with instruments while I sing fix problems.
9.Kids voices and instruments together.
Assessment: Are rhythms being played properly together? Ask kids if they feel it all goes together.
Ask a child if they could play one of the other parts.
Closure: Each child will play a measure of the xylophone part then line up at the door.

Concept:Rhythms

Listening to analyzing and describing music.
Evaluating music and music performances.

Materials:Rhythm sheet
Movement
Rhythm sticks
Procedure:
Q: Who knows what Rhythm is?
Get each student to draw a different note value on the board.
Discuss note values and their relationships to one another.
Q: Can someone come up and diagram the different note values in relationship to one another. (Cognitive,
Application)
Perform simple rhythms and have students repeat.
Put same rhythms on board and have each student perform a different one.
Play a rhythm and have each student write the rhythm on the board.
Movement. Little Shoemaker
Play piece for students.
Go over movements without music. One at a time
Put all together
Add music.
Closure: Each person is going to be given a rhythm and we are going to beat each one all at the same time
so each person can hear the different beats.
Assessment: Understands concept on basis from 1-5
