Come sit in my English ten class, and observe the students. Really look at them. Notice the cloths, the book bags, the accessories, and the technology. Notice the ethnicities, that is the only class that there is another Hispanic who speaks Spanish, other than myself.
Designer shirts, pants, shoes, hats, sweaters, jewelry, I-Pods, and purses. They don’t know what it is like to attend a less funded school. WE didn’t have laptops at ------- High, we didn’t get to buy chocolate muffins, and our vending machines sold cans, and were empty for the majority of the time. They don’t understand what it is like to have a marching band with dancing rhythm. They don’t know what it is like to have a drive by less than five minuets walking distance from the practicing marching band. they haven’t had to know the fear of making a wrong move, or saying the wrong thing to the wrong person. they don’t know the violence of 2+ fights each day. Most of the jocks and preps wouldn’t last one day at my previous school.
They need to get smacked up and shown that life isn’t rich kids, showing off their new ride, or jocks making fun of the “un-fashioned” students. Life isn’t preppy drama, it doesn’t follow rules that you make, you follow life’s rules, whether you want to or not. You cant get by with being good at sports, they don’t know the fights and open-ness of the gay and lesbian population. If one of these kids called someone gay, they would get beat down, fag is not a word for a stupid person, it should not be said by some one who is not gay, like N*g*e*, black people say it to each other all the time. But a white person call them that, and you’ll get hurt. Say Faggot when you’re not gay, and you’d get a beat down.
The students here don’t know what it’s like to know cross dressers, people who have had a gender change, people who are openly gay, lesbian, or Bisexual. And those students do not know the freedom of “coming out” and being able to fight for their rights, and fight for their freedom.
All I have said is the same thing that someone else has already stated. I'm just saying it in a different way that you might understand. dont pretend to be all for non-conformity, if you're going to do it, just do it.
