Derek Paterson

Derek is a novelist and short story writer from Scotland. When I read my first Paterson story, a tale called "Dragonskin," in an online critique group, I couldn't understand why Derek wasn't already published. Two and a half years later, my intuition has been proven correct. He's made a number of sales, both semi-pro and pro, and the aforementioned "Dragonskin" is one of them. His novella, "The Kaiserine's Champion," is offered by Jintsu:

Or meet Derek up close and personal-- Derek --if you dare!

Ralan’s Specfic and Humor Webstravaganza

Whatever small success I've had at getting the right story to the right market I owe to Ralan's excellent speculative-fiction market listing. It's an extraordinary tool for writers seeking an audience.

The Imps

From Compuserve's SF Lit Forum: "This is the home of the IMPs, those folks IMPatient to be published. The IMPs are an informal group of writers who talk about tips and techniques of writing, and have lots of fun while doing so." Somewhat of a misnomer, the Imps are an international group of speculative fiction writers whose members can boast many publishing credits. Story critiques, writing exercises, the occaisional market tip, and a lot of general writing BS can be found here. Follow the link to "Writing SF/Fantasy" on the Message Boards.
