Website re-construction

The official Agathon's Legacy website will be under re-construction June 20th - July 5th. Due to this, some of the functions will be offline. The NEWS and GIGS section will however be at your service. The Management apologizes for the inconveniece.

Line-up update!

Agathon's Legacy has selected a new guitarist! Due to his devotion with Slipping Stitches, Agathon's Legacy has agreed not to hire Casmire Starz for the European gigs. Instead Terrence Phillip Martin has joined the band. Terry's presentation will be on-line within a week! Terry can best be described as an explosive soloist. Listen to John Norum, Steve Vai and such musicians and you'll get an idea of what this new Legacy member is all about!

BIG TIME CHANGES!

Currently you might really say that Agathon's Legacy is going through major changes!
The website will be reconstructed during summer, to offer you more up-to-date information in a nicer package. The NEWS and GIGS-sections will however not be effected by the changes and will serve you through the whole time.

The biggest change has however happened in the line-up of Agathon's Legacy. Long time AL guitarist, backing vocalist and producer Freddie Leeves has left the band. The reason for Freddie to quit is in his other band Velvet Desperados.
It became obvious that Freddie couldn't possibly share his limited time between to bands that until now have been of equal importance to him.

The remaining members, Kris, Heather and Arnie wish the best of luck to Freddie and look back at the years together with gratitude.

"There was nothing dramatic about Freddie leaving the band, actually I guess we all knew this would happen sooner or later", Kris says. "I'm happy for the joy I've had playing with him in Agathon's Legacy and wish him the best with his brilliant band, Velvet Desperados", he continues, "there's no way this would effect our friendship, he's still my beloved brother to me and I know he feels the same way about me".

At this moment it is not certain whether Agathon's Legacy will look for a new guitarist to fill out Freddie's spot or not.

Rumours say, that Kris would have spoken on the phone with his old mate Cashmire Starz from Slipping Stitches about him joining Agathon's Legacy on some gigs in Europe next Autumn. Stay tuned for more information!!

One last newsflash is, that in the near future you'll be able to order Agathon's Legacy CDs directly from CDBaby.com. This should happen within a few weeks.

Still around, still rockin'!

What's new? A lot of things! Kris is back dating his long time love Mikaela, Heather has moved to Helsinki, Arnie's got a new appartment in Karkkila and Freddie is busy with his band Velvet Desperados. AL played a great gig at the Rastila Flames Club on April 15th. That gig had every ingredient in it for ending up as a disaster. Kris was f*cked up, Heather was pissed off, but as usual, the band rocked the hell out of the joint, when finally taking over the stage.

During the summer AL will at least have a few shows in Finland, so please check back for updates. Currently, Kris is working on a musical project and writing new material for the upcoming CD. The most thrilling news are that AL manager Janne Helttula is working on a tour around Europe with Kris for this autumn. No promises yet, but we'll certainly keep you informed!

Legacy News

Christmas is over, we sure hope you all understood to be nice throughout the year and thus recieved a lot of presents from Santa. And now, a small apology... Due to the immense stress in December the updating of the webpage has been neglected WAY too thouroughsly. We're sorry and try to make it up for all of you during the beginning of the year! Promise!

Agathon's Legacy spent a few days at the Ĺgeli Studios recording drums, bass and guitars for two new tracks in early December. Unfortunately, Kris was suffering from pneumonia and couldn't sing. But the recorded material remains sealed on the studio Cubase harddrive and actions will be taken in the beginning of 2005.

More news on the sessions will be posted as soon as there's something new to tell you!

AGATHON'S LEGACY wishes you a FANTASTIC beginning of year 2005 and thanks all of you for your support this year! Happy 2005!

Thank you!

Agathon's Legacy wishes to thank everybody who took the trouble of arriving to both of the previous gigs! You who couldn't make it, you sure missed some great shows, but fear not - there's more to come. At this moment Agathon's Legacy is having a well earned break until the next show, which will be at Rock n' Roll Café, Churchmoor (Kirkkonummi, Finland).

The Agathon's Legacy single "Everyman" is out and you can still order it through this website, by clicking here. If you are interested in endorsing Agathon's Legacy and need promotional copies (for business use only), please contact the management by mailing to agathon@city.fi.

Naturally there's always something that doesn't go by the book, so we apologize for the fact that the Agathon's Legacy official T-shirts are still not available. We're working on it!

In the meantime, be sure to ask your local radio stations to play the music of Agathon's Legacy. And if by a chance some radio station wouldn't have a promo copy of the single, you know what to do (read above).

Some new pics will be online (mostly from the record release party) ASAP.

LOCATION for Kris's birthday gig changed

As if there wouldn't be enough trouble already, Agathon's Legacy had to change the location for the gig on November 6th. Luckily, the new location CASANOVA is practically Ankkuri's (the original location) neighbor. Otherwise nothing has changed, the entrance is free and of course Tomi Pulkkinen & Rintamakarkurit will do a warm-up performance before AL takes the stage. Sincerely welcome to everyone to celebrate Kris's 25th birthday!

THE RELEASE DATE FOR THE EVERYMAN/TEARS FOR YOU-single HAS BEEN CHANGED!

The new date is on WEDNESDAY 10th, 2004. The party will be held at GLORIA.

Agathon's Legacy and the Gloria staff apologise for the inconvenience. The date was changed due to double booking.

The changing of the release date does not affect the websale of the Everyman-single. In fact, you are now able to get your copy of the single TWO DAYS BEFORE the official release day, when ordering through this website!

At this present moment the mastered CD is on its way to Austria and the first edition (500 pcs) will be in Finland within two weeks.

Mixing completed!

Late last night Agathon's Legacy completed the mixing of the "everyman" single. The exhausted, but happy fab four even took time to pose for a few pictures, which you can see by clicking HERE. Both Everyman and Tears For You are now completed and will be mastered by Otto Donner at the Digital Editing Room. Funnily, the last takes and the mixing did not take place at the Background Ranch, but at the Cable Factory at Agathon's Legacy's rehersal studio. Arnie's (Van Zinck) high-powered computer and a good ol' Fostex mixer did the job. Thank you Cubase...

Arnie is currently working with the assistance of Kris on the cover layout. We'll keep you posted on that topic as frequently as possible. Stay tuned - these are interesting times we're living in!

BTW, when the job was finally (almost) completed, Kris wrote a song called "Let's call it a day" and the song was even recorded. God knows where it'll end up... The song took approx. 3 minutes 1 cigarette to write and the first time ever played completely through the recorder was on... :)

Recording sessions and merchandise news!

During the past weeks Agathon's Legacy has been recording the single everyman/Tears For You. The raw-mix is already done, but Kris hasn't quite approved his guitar sounds and the dynamic quartet will return to Background Ranch Studios for a final touch. The mixdown is to be ready by the second week of October. After mixing, mastering will be done at the Digital Editing Room in Tammisaari, Finland.

The mastered single will be duplicated in Austria and the first edition will inhold 500 copies, to be released at the GLORIA release party (on Kris' 25th birthday!), November, 6th.

A bunch of CDs have already been reserved and as told, the first edition is ONLY 500 copies (of which at least 300 will be available for purchase at the release party). If you wish to ensure that you get your copy, you can reserve it HERE.

Official Agathon's Legacy T-shirts will be available in 3 sizes (M, L, XL) during October. The T-shirts will be black with the Agathon's Legacy logo in white. Stay tuned for updates on how to get yours!

Agathon's Legacy is a quartet!

Due to a million other projects, Legacy keyboardist Harry Johnson has been forced to leave the band. Harry's separation from the band happened in peace and the other band members remain good friends and wish Harry good luck with his other projects!

Though Agathon's Legacy lets Harry go in melancholy the band still promises that the upcoming gigs played with the quartet will be explosive and ass-kicking! The next opportunity to check this out is Thursday 9th at Factory, Helsinki, Finland.

By the way, Legacy drummer Arnie took some photos during the studio rehearsals at the Background Ranch yesterday. They'll be online ASAP, as will the acoustic demo version of the new AL song "Gone", recorded a few weeks ago at the Leeves residence by Kris & Freddie. (Click the song title for the lyrics).

Randy Rooster leaving Agathon's Legacy

Guitar wizard Randy Rooster will leave Agathon's Legacy, but fear not - this is not for good. Randy, having a job waiting for him in the UK will unfortunately depart before the next AL gig, but he'll be back in business before Christmas. So far it is undetermined whether Randy will have to return to the UK in January 2005.

Randy's enthusiasm towards his beloved band is eminent and could definitely be seen and heard during the last recording sessions at the Background Ranch Studios, Finland. During these last sessions, by the way, Kris played both the Hammond organ and bass. It is not yet sure will this version of "Homer" be the one featured on AL's next CD.

Agathon's Legacy's webpage updated!

After a long period of silence, Agathon's Legacy is back in business with a totally new design on the webpages! Updates are coming as follows, enjoy and keep on rockin'!

2004-08-08
Recording sessions in August/September 2004

The recording sessions for Agathon's Legacy's up-coming CD-single will take place during August-September 2004 at the Background Ranch Studios in Finland. Kris, Freddie, Randy, Harry and Arnie already tried out the equipment last week and found it more than satisfactory. During the sessions drums and bass for Randy's first contribution to the music of Agathon's Legacy, a song called Look on Homewards Angel (baptisted as "Homer" by Kris), were recorded on the vintage 16-track recorder. The sound and energy of the session could best be described as explosive! Time will show if "Homer" will be a part of the up-coming gigs setlist.

During the first sessions after mid-August at least two "newish" songs - "Everyman" and "Tears for you" will be recorded. Both of these songs are special in their own ways. "Everyman" reminds us a little bit of Kris's idols Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz. The riffs and the pulse has a clear look back to the sound and attitude of the late 60's and early 70's.
"Tears for you" is an amazing example of Kris's ability to connect a feeling to music. It was composed by him during his friend's cigarette break (approx. 5 minutes!) - this was the first time Kris ever heard or read the lyrics. The song is dedicated to the memory of a young man who tragically passed away last year, and the lyrics are written by Kris's personal friend, heavy band Winter's Black's drummer, Johnny Fields.
