SOME GENERAL INFO REGARDING BOBKITTIES

Bobcats are members of the Felidae family, or cat family. They are mostly found in contiental United States, but their habitats range from Canada to Mexico. They get their name from their short, stubby tail. They basically look like oversized kitties, with lynx-like ears. They eat anything, from tiny insects to full grown deer, and have been known to attack humans from time to time. They are crepuscular hunters, meaning they hunt for food at dusk or dawn. They are solitary creatures, and have a life span of 6 to 8 years, but one in capativity have lived 32 years! Exclamation mark!

WHAT DO THEY CALL HOME

Bobcats can live in a lot of places, but they prefer the woodlands. However, alot of bobcats have to adapt to murky swamps or rugged mountain areas. Some bobcats even live in human-populated urban enviorments, and can be seen climbing fences and telephone poles. In Houston, animal control authorities had to detain a bobcat they found in a parking garage.

Bobcats have no tolerance for snow, however, and will wait out storms. Their feet aren't designed to hold their own weight when traversing in snow. Canadian Lynx's are an exception.

WHY THEY'RE SILLY LITTLE CRITTERS

When bobkitties roar, it's so deep and menacing that it's often mistaken for the roar of a lion. If they believe themselves to be in danger, they will stay in their homes for days on end. They are twice the size of the housecat. Their forefeet have five toes, but the fifth one does not make any marks on the ground, as it is raised up. Bobmeows walk over 4 miles a day, and do not have a very good sense of smell.
