About VINOD JAIN Vinod
JainHe was born in July 1938 in western Uttar Pradesh. Most of his school education took place in Meerut at CAB High School. Most of his college education took place at Meerut College, Meerut, though he passed M.A. in English Literature from S.D. College Muzaffarnagar. He was interested in and got trained in Journalism but could not get any opening in this career. So he had no option but to join his father's printing press. He was one of those few who foresaw in 1974 the approaching onslaught on India's democracy. He was along with Sarvashree Jayprakash Narayan, S.M. Joshi, Nani Palkivala and Justice V.M. Tarkunde, one of the five founding members of 'Citizens For Democracy'. He became its first Executive Secretary. He was instrumental in 1978 in organising the 'Humanist Youth Forum' and became its President. It decided to take up socio-cultural issues for discussion among college students. In 1978 the forum organised a three day all India conference in Delhi University. Three colleges of Delhi University participated. Many youth came from many States. This activity was repeated in 1980 in the same three colleges of Delhi University. Way back in 1962, he started working on a modern common script for all Indian languages. Though a preliminary paper was published in 1962 itself, the work actually took 40 long years to complete. This was published by the Sahitya Akademi in its monthly journal "Samkalin Bhartiya Sahitya". He is associated with the Humanist movement in India for the last 40 years. In July 2009 he was unanimously elected as the President of Indian Radical Humanist Association (IRHA). ------------------------------ Rahul JainThis website is made single-handedly by Rahul Jain, including reproduction of all the available books written by Roy.
