When Good TV Shows Get Threatened.
When I was younger, I limited my TV watching to only cartoons. If it had humans in it whatsoever, I wasn't interested. When reaching my early pre-teen stages, I was a big fan of family sitcoms. Then I started watching every single show on The Gameshow Network, and later ventured onto Comedy Central.
That being said, I admit that my TV watching has taken a huge turn from then to now. Of course I am still a huge fan of cartoons, I won't deny that, but now I'm open to so much more. This year, I began tuning into a show called "Undeclared" on Fox, at 8:30 on Tuesdays. The show focuses around the awkward main character of Steven Carp and his life as a freshmen at college. Perhaps the show appeals to me more being that that's my age range, and that'll be me next year, or maybe I just like it since it's gosh darn good. Steven Karp also says "wicked" a lot. Since he, like me, is wicked cool.
Pretty soon, my sister and my dad got into the show. It was a struggle, being that my dad was a slave to "Gilmore Girls", which airs at the same time as "Undeclared". Pretty soon, we started making it a habit to tape the show and rewatch it, laughing as much if not more at the second unofficial airing compared to the first. Every week, I tried pushing the show onto my friends, which failed. But the dedication was there. Marshall, played by Shaggy-lookalike Timm Sharp, became my favorite character. And once you develop a favorite character, there is no turning back. You're hooked.
This is where the bad part comes in. A new schedule was scheduled to air during sweeps, but last minute, the folks at FOX Network pulled it and ran a second episode of its lead in show, "That 70's Show." Once a brand new episode is pulled during sweeps, you know that things can't be looking up. "That 70's Show" may have Topher Grace, but if they think that back to back episodes will make the network look better, I'm sorry FOX. I'll have to disagree. To sum it all up, if FOX pulls this show, be prepared for a fight. Since it's one of the one shows (besides the Simpsons, granted) that they have going for them. And even though my sister thinks that I'm reading into this and that the show will in fact be on for at least another season, I'm willing to support "Undeclared" every chance I can. Remember. 8:30 on FOX. Check your local listings.
