Corner Shot

This is the Corner Shot. Developed by former Israel Defense Forces senior officers Amos Golan and Asaf Nadel along with US investors, it is the gun that will revolutionize the future of tactical combat. In short, it allows the shooter to "peek" out of a corner with an armed weapon without exposing himself. Sick.

The "head" of the Corner Shot bends with a quick flick of the handle. A camera at the tip provides a clear picture and a crosshair on the color moniter near the handle. Although still in the works, there are currently three models available. From left to right, the first picture up top is the Corner Shot CSM, the standard model with an array of compatable handguns. The second model is the Corner Shot 40, which fires 40 mm grenades, including flashbangs and smoke grenades. The third is the Corner Shot APR, which fires 5.56 ammunition from a pistol rifle. Awesome.

Some quick specs to be noted are the light with dispersing filter, the CR123 Lithium light batteries, and the ergonomic pistol grip. For the official website click here.

Tavor Assault Rifle TAR-21

For years, big, long, or bulky weapons have been putting the lives of Israeli police and army on the line. The crowded streets and buildings of Israel called for a gun that was compact, yet powerful and accurate. The Tavor was the answer.
Standard M16, 510mm barrel length, 0.45kg when loaded
Tavor Standard Assault Rifle, 460mm Barrel Length, 0.36kg when loaded

The Tavor uses a bullpulp design, making it as short as a carbine, but with the full accuracy and power of a Colt M16. It also uses a laser red dot sight that turns off when on safety, preserving battery life.

The Tavor uses 5.56 NATO rounds, has a standard red dot laser sight, average RPM of 825 and a muzzle velocity of 890m/sec. Now that is a force to be feared... For all info on Israeli weapons click here.

Body Armor

Dragon Skin

First there was Kevlar, and then there was Spectra. But now, there's Dragon Skin.
Made by Pinnacle Armor, this is the first true flexible body armor. Unlike regular body armor, which uses rigid metal plates, Dragon Skin is fulled with multiple ceramic disks, enabling it to "move when you move". Because of these disks, it is extremely light compared to its competitors, such as the Intercepter Body Armor. A standard vest is .796" to .858" and is enough to withstand 5.56 x 45mm at 3200-3300 fps and 7.62 x 39mm at 2200-2400 fps. That's some tough s***.

Liquid Armor

When someone says Liquid Armor, one would probably think it's something out of a science fiction movie...but it's not. It's here, and it's coming fast. Reseachers have recently discovered Shear Thickening Fluid (STF). STF is at first glance, a non-toxic deformable gel. But when an object impacts STF, it reshapes and hardens. This makes for a potentially light, cheap, and very effective body armor. STF can be fit inside kelvar or other non-absorbant cloths. Although still in the works, the research at the University of Delaware is very promising, and will probably be mass produced sometime in 2007. Scince fiction? I think not.

The Final LEAP: Future Force Warrior

As we can see, law enforcement evolves. Our forefathers marveled at the versitility of revolvers, and later semi-automatic handguns. Now, in the 21st century, there is the The Law Enforcement Advanced Protection (LEAP). Police can now respond even faster to dangerous situations, and now with LEAP even respond to the new threat: dangerous biochemicals. Unfortunately it's also in the works, because of the need of advanced computer and electronics in the helmet (And yes, they are thinking about adding a half inch monocle screen attached to the helmet). Not much is know about the LEAP system except that it's based on the army's Future Force Warrior uniform (FFW). And what is the FFW? Well let's just say that in the future, combat will steadily turn into the amazing science fiction movies we all love to watch... And who knows, maybe someday well ALL be able to become Futureweapons.
