:::: [ i can climb mountains ] :::: http://www.iccm.2ya.com :::: 'You Drove Me To It' - HELL IS FOR HEROES :::: [ i can climb mountains ] :::: http://www.iccm.2ya.com :::: Right then, this is my first time tabbing, so don't be too hard on me if I mess it up... This tab is best used as a guide only, it's always best to try to figure these things out by ear first- use this if you get stuck. It might be worth mentioning at this point that I don't have any formal musical training, and don't use tab myself (I play by ear). Mind you, this will probably become fairly obvious as we progress... (Remember, this is just how I play it. THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL TAB IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM!) This song is played in 'drop-D' tuning (DADGBE), as are all of the HIFH songs I have heard so far. Keep the distortion nice and crunchy, but don't overdo it -the stops will sound sloppy if you do. I won't try to include too many techniques here (hammer-ons, vibrato etc.), but I will include stuff I think is important as notes. 1. Intro/Main riff. The weird nasal guitar tone at the start of the song can be acheived with an EQ pedal, just make an inverted V-shape with the sliders and then mess about with it a bit. I don't have an EQ pedal, so I use a Wah pedal to get a similar sound (just step on it and leave it 'all the way forward'), it's not exact, but it will do as a 'quick' tone shift. Let the first 'D' and the last 'C' ring (i've marked them 'R>>(as far as they need to go)), otherwise damp the low-D. I tend to use downstrokes, and hammer-on the 9-10 bit on the A-string. The second part of the main riff features a harmonic, I have marked this 'H'. (just rest your finger on the string directly over the 5th fret, don't push down). Intro. Chorus. Fairly straightforward stuff here, I won't start going on about damping etc. because it will be fairly obvious where to do this when you hear the tune. The 'Leave ringing'(R>>>) notation is included only for those who don't have a copy of the single and are daft enough to attempt the song without hearing it! It should read as... 11 11 11 11 12 12 12 12 11 11 11 9 9 9 9 10 10 10 10 9 9 9 ..but I don't have room to type it like that. It plays much easier than it looks, use up and down strokes. And thats about it. As I have mentioned there are various stops and stutters to include, but these will become obvious when you listen to the song, as will the order of the parts (intro>verse>chorus>verse>chorus>middle section>chorus). Let me know if I've got any of it wrong!
