Live Review... Hell Is For Heroes @ Hop & Grape, Manchester (Supporting Icarus Line) | Tuesday, 03 july, 2001
The lack of bodies does nothing to dampen support band Hell Is For Heroes' enthusiasm but their big ball of sound, crunching though it is, doesn't really fit tonight's bill. They're known at the moment for being the band partly made up of left over pieces of Symposium, but if there's any comparison to be made it's with the more jagged latter-day material - 'Killing Position' rather than 'Farewell To Twilight'. There's no cherry pop songs or cheeky monkey banter here but there are streaks of melody and whopping great hooks strung through gigantic riffs that sound like AC/DCc edging ahead on points in a brawl with killing joke.
