News

The news below is what IS going to happen and what MIGHT be happening. Some of the news may get no further than these pages, because it was never confirmed when I put it on here! I like to let you know as early as possible what is happening/could happen.

Thursday, 09/05/02 | TOUR NEWS.... HIFH are going to do a headline tour in June/July supported by (hopefully) Kids Near Water and also thisGIRL, who may not be able to do all the dates do to European commitments. As always, when anything is confirmed I'll let you know.

SINGLE NEWS.... The follow-up single to Januarys 'You Drove Me To It' is now undecided again. I brought you the news last month that the single was going to be 'Night Vision', but the record company are now favouring 'I Can Climb Mountains'. However, this isn't certain. I am told that the release date will be July 15. As always, I'll post any news here when I get it.

MORE NEWS.... To new song titles for you. 'Can You Hear It?' and 'Few Against Many'. People who went to the "goodbye" gig at the Borderline in January (photos up soon) will know 'Slow Song' which hasn't been renamed and possibly will remain, simply, 'Slow Song'. - Ryan.x

. Saturday, 05/05/02 | The guys WON'T be playing tomorrows Essential Festival Indie Rock Day. The festival cancelled a few stages because the ground wasn't safe to mosh on.... yes, I think its fucking bull shit aswell. Sorry I didn't bring you this news earlier. - Ryan.x

. Saturday, 20/04/02 | Right... The new single 'Night Vision' is going to be (according to Hall Or Nothing) out in July. I have no date for the album yet but I think it's going to be "not long after" like I previously reported.

Wednesday, 17/04/02 | Great news for any Swedish HIFH fans. The guys are playing the Umea Festival, Sweden on April 27th.

Monday, 15/04/02 | Lots to tell... The next single (although not officially) is going to be 'Night Vision' probably released in June with the album not long after. Some gigs to announce - HIFH have confirmed the UK Alien Ant Farm gigs (see gigs section for full list of gigs & festivals).

Friday, 12/04/02 | The day after HIFH return from Sweden they are playing the Essential Festival (Rock Day) in Bristol on Sunday May 5th 2002 along with Hundred Reasons, Kids Near Water + loads more bands. - www.essentialfestival.com

Thursday, 11/04/02 | HIFH next single will either be (99% sure) 'I Can Climb Mountains' or 'Night Vision'. The record company kinda want 'Night Vision' and HIFH aren't bothered which is a single (both songs rawk!), so 'Night Vision' looks most likely at the moment. As always, I'll keep you all informed are I hear the news.

Monday, 08/04/02 | Hell Is For Heroes are now in Sweden. Two possible song names for two (of many) new songs written for the album are 'Retreat' and 'Disconnecter'. More soon I hope :-D

It looks most likely that HIFH are going to do the Alien Ant Farm UK gigs. It's still not confirmed yet. If Hoobastank come over here HIFH might tour with them as HS and HIFH share a management company so check back here soon.

Sunday, 07/04/02 | While the HIFH Yahoo Club is being changed into a group (don't ask), go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hell-is-for-heroes and join up.

Wednesday, 03/04/02 | Hell Is For Heroes have confirmed the UK & Ireland OzzFest dates. Go buy your tickets!

Tuesday, 02/04/02 | Hell Is For Heroes have finished recording their debut album in LA with Swedish producers Pelle Henricsson and Eskil Lövström. Will seems pleased with it and said "we'd be foolish not to listen to the ideas Pelle and Eskil have". Expect interludes between songs. Having said that, Will said Pelle and Eskil had mentioned putting (sorta) "dance music" in the interludes, but HIFH kindly declined. HIFH will return home to London for a few days before flying to Sweden to complete the album with Pelle & Eskil.

Look out for HIFH appearing on the bill with Alien Ant Farm, Hoobastank and Lostprophets (not all at the same time). HIFH may support these bands once they return from Sweden to the UK. NONE of these have been confirmed yet so don't buy yet if your just going to see HIFH. More info asap. One more thing - 'You Drove Me To It' was on 'Hundred Reasons choose..' on MTV:2 tonight.

Saturday, 30/03/02 | Its quite likely that Pelle and Eskil (hifh's producers) are also going to mix the album aswell. This will be done in their home country Sweden with HIFH with them. Not sure when this will be done. I'll find out though. - Ryan.x

Monday, 25/03/02 | There is a good chance HIFH will play the Uk dates of OzzFest this year. They haven't confirmed yet, but I'll keep you informed. When the guys return from LA they are going to tour "loads". Possible tours include: Alien Ant Farm, Lostprophets and Hoobastank. I said possible. Nothing confirmed yet. More news soon + more updates to the site - Ryan.x

Tuesday, 04/03/02 | 'The Neon Handshake' is a possible name for the debut HIFH album expected before the end of 2002. I can also tell you that while in LA recording the album, 'I Can Climb Mountains', 'Sick/Happy', 'Cut Down', 'Five Kids Go' and the current single 'You Drove Me To It' will all be re-recorded among the 15 songs being recorded by Pelle and Eskil. 'I Can Climb Mountains' may be released as a single in the USA (more news soon)... Just for the record, I'm betting the band are gonna come back from LA fat bastards - keep eating those burgers guys.

Monday, 18/02/02 | Now that all of Pelle and Eskil's stuff has been shipped to LA recording for the debut album started on Thursday (14th).

Monday, 04/02/02 | 'You Drove Me To It' entered the UK official singles chart at #63 (#4 in the rock chart). Bit dissapointing (good for a "debut" single though) but I'm sure the band thank each and every one of you that bought it.

Wednesday, 30/01/02 | 'You Drove Me To It' is #57 in the midweek charts. It has sold 426 copies. The vinyl should now be available everywhere now, so everyone buy the vinyl we are looking at a top 40 spot. Make your friends buy a copy! Get the CD here.

Saturday, 26/01/02 | Hell Is For Heroes merch is now available at BlueGrape. The band are telling us NOT to buy anything until the price is reduced, because they are WAY overpricing.

Thursday, 24/01/02 | When Hell Is For Heroes play in LA on Monday (see Gigs) they will be traveling in Trail 'O' Dead's old van. HIFH bought it off them to travel around the US whilst recording (and being lazy sun-bathing b*****ds - take it easy).

Wednesday, 16/01/02 | Hell Is For Heroes will be in LA sometime around now. They flew out today at about lunchtime to finish recording their debut album with Pelle Henricsson and Eskil Lövström. Three songs for the as yet untitled album have already been recorded with Gil Norton. The new site is up at www.hellisforheroes.net and the fanzine site is www.hifhfanzine.co.uk - Add anything you want there. Don't worry there will be regular news, pics (etc) updates while they are in the states. If you guys are reading - I hope your ok out there. Its tough life ain't it. I'll look forward to another winter in England... lucky bastards!

Saturday, 12/01/02 | Douglas have pulled out of the Borderline gig. Will says "just thought i'd let you know.douglas are no longer doing the show.i don't think there drummer is in the band any more or something". So its just the two bands. HIFH are gonna debut some new songs!! Wooh!

Friday, 11/01/02 | Pelle Henricsson and Eskil Lövström will be producing HIFH debut album. Douglas are first on the bill for Sundays gig at the Borderline, London. Followed by Kids Near Water and Hell Is For Heroes.

Monday, 07/01/02 | The single 'You Drove Me To It' has been put back a week. The release date now is 28th January 2002.

Sunday, 06/01/02 | The album isn't going to be produced by Gil Norton anymore. Two Swedish guys (who have worked with Refused) are doing it. More info soon! PS - sorry for not updating [ iccm ] lately!!

Sunday, 23/12/01 | 'You Drove Me To It' is on the Radio 1 rock show play list. Go to my 'Request' section to get it on the radio and TV more!

Thursday, 20/12/01 | HIFH are in Rock Sound mag this month. Its a feature on new bands. I'll have the review typed up tomorrow.

Monday, 17/12/01 | In the Fred Durst issue (#883) of Kerrang there is a misprint about HIFH. The Borderline gig ad on page 57 says "New album YOU MADE ME DO IT out now?". Well the album isn't out yet, it's still untitled and it hasn't been recorded. So it's wrong. PS - HIFH are in LA today having a party.

Wednesday, 12/12/01 | 'Kids Near Water' will be the support at the London Boarderline on January 13th in the new year.

Saturday, 08/12/01 | 'You Drove Me To It' will be released on January 21st on Wishakismo. It will be available on CD and limited 7" coloured vinyl, both containing 'You Drove Me To It' and 'Things Fall Apart'. The CD will also contain 'Kill The Silence'. See the artwork in the 'discography' section. Don't forget to check out the 'gigs' section, there are only a few dates left on the H*R tour + a HIFH headline gig in January 2002.

Saturday, 24/11/01 | The single 'You Drove Me To It' will be released on Wishakismo Records and not EMI. Everything after this single will be on EMI.

Thursday, 22/11/01 | A new demo of 'Sick/Happy' is going to appear on the free CD with Kerrang! next week (Wednesday, 28/11). The CD is entitled "Incoming: The Sounds Of 2002". The song was recorded at the beginning of this month. Bands also featured are Rival Schools, Adema, Nickleback, Will Haven, Mad Capsule Markets, American Head Charge, The Hives, Number One Son + more.

Monday, 19/11/01 | The untitled fourth track on the EP has been taken off, so the EP is now the "You Drove Me To It" single to be released in January. The HIFH/Hundred Reasons split EP featuring the HIFH demo '5 Kids Go' is only available from Hundred Reasons site if you join the mailing list and NOT from the gigs in November/December. When I find out what formats the records are on I'll let you know.

Wednesday, 31/10/01 | I went to see HIFH supporting American HiFi in Manchester last night. HIFH were amazing. Even better than Leeds Fest. The new tee shirt is cool. Its a beige (kinda) colour with a picture of a young boy crying wearing a cowboy outfit, with 'hell is for heroes' across it in yellow. They are in sizes M, L & skinny. I advise that you buy your shirt early because they sold out last night and guess who didn't get one!

I'm going to make a fans section on this site so if anyone wants to review a gig or send in anything at all email it to me at ryan_77uk@hotmail.com

Sunday, 28/10/01 | The guys will be supporting Hundred Reasons on their tour of the UK in late November & December and will also play with Jimmy Eat World @ The Scala, London on November 10. Not forgetting the American HiFi tour starting on Tuesday 30th. The EP is still going to happen but isn't going to be financially pushed because the album is going to hopefully be amazing and blow it out of the water. Gil Norton is going to do the album. He is the dude who did the 3 best Pixies LPs & Foo Fighters - 'The Colour & The Shape'. Its gonna rock! A split 7" may be pressed for the Hundred Reasons tour. More news when I find out or email ryan_77uk@hotmail.com. Will doesn't know what is happeing with hifh.com but hellisforheroes.net will be up soon and will be completed by Christmas.

Saturday, 13/10/01 | The System Of A Down tour has been cancelled, so there is no chance of HIFH supporting. The American HIFI shows are still going ahead despite the fact that a some US bands are rescheduling or cancelling gigs because of the troubles in the US I suspect. Hundred Reasons are doing a tour in November/December this year. Will says "I think we are gonna be supporting Hundred Reasons around the UK starting in Newport on November 24th". More news when I find out.

Wednesday, 10/10/01 | The EP has been put back to the 7th January because the events in the US. 'World Trade Centre' has been renamed to 'You Drove Me To It'. The EP is still untitled. The revised track list is; 'You Drove Me To It', 'Things Fall Apart', 'Kill The Silence' and a currently nameless song.

Monday, 08/10/01 | HIFH will only be doing the UK dates of the American Hi/Fi European tour. + there is a very small possibility (at this stage) that HIFH could support System of a Down on their forthcoming tour.

Saturday, 06/10/01 | Hell Is For Heroes are going to support American Hi/Fi on the UK leg of their European tour during October and November this year. The UK dates are,

30/10 | Tuesday - Manchester University
01/11 | Thursday - King Tut's, Glasgow
03/11 | Friday - The Cockpit, Leeds
14/11 | Wednesday - Fleece & Firkin, Bristol
15/11 | Thursday - University of London Union, London

HIFH may be supporting one of Will's favourite bands in the near future at "bigger shows", although nothing has been confirmed yet :) I'll keep you updated!

Tuesday, 02/10/01 | The EP/single could be out between mid November and in the worst case early January. No more news about whether HIFH will be appearing with American Hi Fi, but we are promised "exciting things on the live front" in the (i hope/think) near future.

Wednesday, 26/09/01 | HIFH are still in the countryside jammin. The Vex Red/HIFH tour almost certainly isn't going to happen as far as the band know! Although HIFH may be supporting American Hi-Fi on their tour of the UK in late October/November, but this isn't confirmed, so don't buy tickets just yet. The EP due out in November is still nameless. If you have a good name email ryan_77uk@hotmail.com or get in touch with Will.

Friday, 21/09/01 | The guest book is now up! Sign away! The last I heard the band were in a cottage, drinking beer and playing till the early hours. Yay! More news soon!

Thursday, 13/09/01 | The HIFH song 'World Trade Centre' (written long before the tragedy in NYC) is to be renamed after the prementioned building was destroyed on Tuesday (11/09/01). Justin from the band said, "Firstly the tune has no relevance to this former building which is fortunate for us in light of the grim events this week. nor is it literally about jumping or falling off buildings. it is a song about life in freefall, fear and exhiliration of losing control, blah blah blah. something that anyone interested in this band can probably identify with. you get the picture. as a mark of respect we will certainly be changing the name - i wanted to change it anyway before this tragedy".

Tuesday, 11/09/01 | Hell Is For Heroes are playing tonight at Londons Mean Fiddler supporting Alien Ant Farm. The gig was sold out before HIFH were booked to play so no HIFH fans will be there, apart from the 15 lucky winners who responded fastest to an email sent out by Will to people on his mailing list and Yahoo Club members. A review and pictures of the gig will appear on I Can Climb Mountains ASAP.

Monday, 10/09/01 | Hell Is For Heroes are supporting Alien Ant Farm at their sold out London show tomorrow (Tuesday, 11/09/01)..... After being signed to Chrysalis/EMI, HIFH are touring in October/Novenber to promote the EP being released in November.

EP Track list,

  • World Trade Center
  • Things Fall Apart
  • Kill The Silence
  • + a new, untitled song
