'Hell Is For Heroes' were formed from Will McGonagle & Joe Birch (ex-Symposium) and some of there old school friends (James 'Fin' Findlay and Tom O'Donoghue). They recruited Justin in a bar when they met through mutual friends. They wrote some songs did some gigs and then released a double A side ("Sick/Happy" & "Cut Down") CD on Superior Quality Recordings. They supported several bands on tour. They were featured in mags such as Kerrang, NME, and The Fly. Most importantly, Rock Sound magazine who put "I Can Climb Mountains", (a HIFH demo) on a compilation CD.

HIFH signed to Chrysalis/EMI and were booked to play their first festival. The Carling Weekend 2001, Carling Stage.... they rocked!
